Not too easy to set up
This is a beautiful table-top fountain. I love the bamboo design, and while it runs quietly, I can hear the water trickling and it is very soothing. I don’t turn it on all the time, only when I want to relax. I would have given the item five stars, except the set up was a pain (literally). First, the item was packed in styrofoam, which crumbled in some areas because of the shipping. The fountain was quite dirty when I got it out of the box with styrofoam crumbs sticking on it and some paint chips. I had to wash it before trying to hook it up. Then I read the "manual" which, for lack of a better word, sucks. The pictures are so dark I couldn’t see where to attach the pump. Only after I asked I found out it’s the Y shape hose inside the cavity of the fountain. I saw the hose but the end was stuck way inside inside the cavity with the open end touching the floor I thought that couldn’t be it. It was very difficult to get it out to attach the pump, and I scraped my hand doing it, because the opening to the cavity has sharp edges (see photo). There was a grey lid and the manual didn’t say where to put it, but there is only one place it could go, on the top of the pipe with the same color. However, it didn’t snap on and just stayed loosely on the top I was wondering if something (like a clip) was missing. Finally I filled in the water and turned the fountain on and it worked very nicely. But the lid went around and around and made a louder noise than the trickling water. I tried to stop it by putting a tiny stone on top and it stopped moving but it also slowed down the flow of the water. I tried a few things and found that the perfect weight to put on it was a quarter. So — after all that, I finally was able to enjoy the fountain. Note to the seller: please improve the instructions (it doesn’t take much effort to design a more attractive flyer), and tell the factory to smooth the edges, if possible.

Overall nice fountain
I was so hesitant to get this fountain after the reviews about the setup. However, it's almost impossible now to find these fountains without LED lights, which I don't want, so I decided to try this one. I even delayed opening the box for a day until I could gird my loins and get ready to get frustrated with setting it up. Well, apparently they made a few changes. All I had to do was plug it in and fill it with water (maybe this was a return and someone else did all the work?). The pump does not move around in its little compartment, and when it rests against the side of the compartment, the vibration it causes almost drowns out the water sound. I tried taping the cord in such a way to move it away from the edge, we'll see if that lasts. As for the sharp edges one reviewer mentioned, those are gone. There is a gray circular thing with no explanation--if you put it on top of the gray thing on the fountain, it will spin and keep the water from spilling over the side. We thought the spinning looked stupid, so I put some small polished rocks on the gray thing to redirect the water. I cannot see how you could possibly change the pump pressure without disconnecting and removing the pump, there's no room in the little compartment to even find the sliding adjuster. Once the thing is going and not vibrating loudly, it is a very pretty fountain! I have it on a table between two plants and it looks fantastic there. Overall, based on my fountain experience, I recommend this fountain!

Great fountain after a bit of set-up
This fountain arrived securely packaged, but was wrapped in pieces of rug padding so I certainly wouldn't call it giftable unless you repackaged it. Had a hard time getting the pump attached to the tubing. You are working in a tiny space from the back of the fountain and I ended up using hemostats to hold the tubing after I had trimmed one part of it. Once assembled it sounds amazing and is beautiful. I bought some large river stones to put in the "bowl" to muffle the water sounds a little. I add water every other day and so far the pump has given me no problems. The pump has a flow adjustment which is nice.
