Chinese Military Shovel Emergency Tools WJQ-308 II/DJQ5

I saw a video demonstration of this shovel on Youtube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b60OZhrTB6o and have been meaning to get myself a good camping shovel for a long time after a buddy showed me the usefulness of them. I'm impressed by the quality of the item. It is solid in each of its modes and feels like it won't wear fast despite being relatively light. I normally try to pack my camping gear into one backpack and this will help me a lot.One additional purpose that has not really been covered in demonstrations and reviews is that shovels make reasonably versatile frying pans for bacon and sausages. I'm yet to test this one for this purpose and I'm slightly concerned about the foodsafe nature of the surface, but it's got a good shape for it, and this will save you additional weight!

This shovel is substantial - built to survive heavy use. I haven't tested out all the multi-tool features but as a shovel it is top notch. Very pleased with this purchase.

I would have given “The Chinese Miracle Shovel” five stars, but there is one small problem, and one disappointment.Overall, I find the shovel’s quality to be excellent. However, I uncomfortably discovered that the hinge-bolts that hold the shovel to the handle have a tendency to come loose--and fall out. I found the missing bolt, but the situation is concerning.My shovel came with an Allen wrench to re-tighten the bolts, which I suppose would help prevent the problem, but I instituted a fix of my own. I simply but some tape over the bolts. I would still have to tighten the bolts periodically, but I think (I haven’t tested) that the tape should prevent the bolts from falling out.I would recommend anyone purchasing this shovel to use the tape. I also haven’t had the opportunity to look for spare bolts, either on the internet or at a hardware store, but I would recommend doing this, also.Another minor disappointment I had is that older models of the shovel seem to have a feature that could be used as a crimper. My version, bought in late 2013, does not. However, I have actually found no proof the shovel was EVER advertised as having a crimper, and as it was located between the folding head and the handle, it would have probably been awkward to use in any case. WJQ-308 is just a copycat of DJQ5 - the real, authentic chinese multipurpose military shovel. you can see the differences for the quality between the copycat WJQ-308 and the real one DJQ5. i don't own either one, yet but surely i would only get DJQ5.i gave it 2-star since the title is misleading.
