Great tester with lots of features!
I am a very handy individual but the one project I tend to shy away from is electrical work. I will change out an outlet or a switch or redo the plug end on a cord but I have always been hesitant to dive in to do the heavier projects. I believe I was scarred as a child when the Met Ed guy demoed what 10,000 volts did to a hot dog. As I do some home renovations (yes the dreaded electrical work) I decided that I needed a better electrical tester and after some research I settled on this one. It has A LOT of features and overall does a really outstanding job. It is a bit bulky but that's the trade off for all the extra it does. The built in light is an unexpected but appreciated addition as well. All in all, very happy with this purchase!

A little confusing at first
I'm planning on swapping some switches for dimmers and a light socket for a outlet. I wanted to do it the safe way.I'll have to admit, I didn't entirely get how to use this. Fortunately, there's a few different videos on youtube. One for this model of pen specifically. There's video that shows a good of order of operation as well. Test the pen against a know variable to make sure it's working properly, then test it against what ever you're working on, then finally test it against the known again. The continuity test works well.

functions well, full featured, but obviously not perfect in every way
I bought this for work where we've been hanging a lot of LED lights recently - some of them 120 volt, some 480. And, due to some legacy wiring, some of the wires aren't entirely trustworthy when the breaker switch is off. I've tested this several times since I got it and it's been a solid performer. The number of lights gives me a rough idea of exactly what kind of voltage I'm dealing with, which is a nice little show-off feature. The flashlight isn't anything to write home about, but then again it's not supposed to be. It's perfectly functional for what you might want to use it for - lighting up some wires when it's dark. Two bits of criticism I have for it:1 - it's rather large. A lot of non-contact voltage detectors tend to be a bit bulky, and this one I'd say is a bit bulkier than most. This means it' doesn't exactly fit well in my shirt pocket, and it isn't particularly forgiving in my tool belt. This isn't a deal breaker though.2 - That dial for sensitivity also turns the thing on. It has turned on by itself twice now in my tool belt.

Not sensitive enough for Safety
The purpose of such a tester is to ensure the safety of the user. The unit I tested is just not sensitive enough to be trusted to provide an accurate reading. At its highest sensitivity setting, it can barely detect a live wire at a 110V outlet. I have to place the tip of this tester on the live wire before it will register anything. There are times when it would not register any voltage. (I tested this in both auto and manual mode.)I have to keep repositioning the tester to get a reading on a live wire, which I would not have done if I did not know the wire is live. With this uneven performance, I have concluded that I cannot rely on this tester for electrical works.

Easy to use ans very reliable.
The electricity tester is an excellent product for the money. Easy to use and it works perfectly as to this day. It also came with an internal light for better use at night time. I strongly recommend this tester.

Use carefully, fragile
It worked well for a few months. The tip broke off inside a receptacle(outlet). And doesn't have auto shut off. Will drain your battery if you leave it on.

Adjustable sensitivity for various mission
In AUTO mode (default when turned on), you could detect live and neutral wire. If you want critical setting, press blue button to change to MANUAL mode, put the sensor by the wire or socket that you know is the live side, and adjust the sensitivity until it turns green. This way you could accurately identify which side of the 2 wire cable is live or neutral. You could also turn it to maximum sensitivity, to detect a live voltage even half inch away for safety. It has a LED light, and auto shut off function. I like the product. It was a very good and happy buy to me.

Instructions almost resemble English
The instructions are poorly written, typeset in 2pt, make little sense, and clarify little. The voltage detector itself is inconsistent at best, and doesn’t function at worst. I’m certain I’ll be electrocuted if I trust this device. Back to Amazon with you!
