According to legend, when the ravens depart the Tower of London, it will crumble to rubble and disaster will befall England. As man became more dependent on science, believing only in what he could define or create, ancient knowledge and rituals were lost to the antiquity of time. Prophecies that had stood as warning for untold generations were seen as archaic folly or ignorant superstition. So, when the harbingers of evil began to manifest, few saw and fewer believed. When the demons finally came, there was little that stood in their way. Compelling cooperative multiplayer experience - by creating unique and individualized game play instances within a vast online community, gamers get all the best parts of traditional massive multiplayer games Hellgate - London Game on 2 DVDs / Bonus Disc containing - Making of Hellgate - London; Official Game Soundtrack .com It’s 2038, and London lies in ruins... From Flagship Studios – creators of the award-winning Diablo® series and the fathers of the action role playing genre – comes HellGate: London, the next benchmark in the evolution of the RPG genre. Combining the depth of traditional RPGs with the frenetic, visceral feel of first-person shooters, HellGate: London offers infinite replayability with dynamically created levels, monsters, items and events that gives each player their own unique hack-and-slash experience. A post-apocalyptic London has been overrun by hordes of terrifying demons, leaving the city desolate and scorched by hellfire. Those who were unlucky enough to survive now gather in the only sanctuary left, the Underground, banding together in order to gain a foothold against the minions of darkness and ultimately save the bloodline of humanity. It is no surprise that these sole survivors come from three of society’s most elite factions, each of whom are masters of a robust number of skills and weapons essential to demon-thrashing. The Templar, a secret society preserving the rites of the original Knights Templar, mix futuristic technology with ancient artifacts to create powerful weapons and armor perfect for short-ranged and melee attacks. The Cabalists are students of the dark arts and edges of science which often leaves them standing right on the line between good and evil. Their mystifying spells make them suited for mid-range combat. The Hunters are mysterious, highly trained ex-military operatives who lay waste to their foes with hyper-advanced weapons that blend theoretical science and the latest in technology – and their bullets can come from almost any distance. HellGate: London delivers an amazing gaming experience to PC gamers of all types – delivering the eye-popping DX10 visuals demanded by the hardcore, and scaling to ensure the masses of casual RPG players can still get the best performance on older PCs. Behold Clobbersaurus ye evils o'hell and tremble !!!!
A really cool game with a neat and wide variety of weapons/armor/shields and skill trees depending on your profession of which there are 6 to choose from ,2 soldier ,2 'priest' and 2' engineer'. The color pallet is subdued but since this game takes place in a hell occupied , post apocalyptic London its fitting. My best character is a Palladin with a heavy development in healing auras , My weapon of choice is a peg leg used as a makeshift club thats given as a quest reward early in the game. All weapons and armor can be improved upon almost without limit including the peg leg and I made for quite an image ; impressive looking armor and shield , wading through the denizens of hell swinging some kids peg leg which I had dubbed Clobbersaurus and which had been receiving steady upgrades to the point where it was a Battering Ram of Righteousness !!!! :) The variety of enemies you'll face is pretty diverse with the HellMeat being the grossest one. There is one part of the game where you control a platoon from a top down point of view which I regarded as absolutely unnecessary and chorelikebut thats the only part I really think could be done away with. There is also a little humor thats a bit morbidly droll but suits the games flavor .Some of the environs are recycled which is kind of lazy on the part of the designers IMO but theres still good variety in combat areas. The sounds are effective but not really creepy and the voice acting is a bit stilted but acceptable. The music though does a good job of setting and maintaining the mood. The story is preposterous and fun but im not going to reveal any of it , play the game and let it play out . Hellgate is story driven with many expository cut scenes but like I said , its really pretty silly. Its a fun , totally engaging game but it starts to drag as a result of the grinding you'll be doing.... but all rpgs can get that way I suppose, and it has lots and lots of replayablity. My Palladin I played from an over the shoulder camera view and my soldier from a 1st person point of view to get the most from each but I have yet to try other professions. It played well on my Alienware midrange computer as well as my Dell Ispirion with Win7. Its not being offered on Steam as of yet but who knows? maybe they will add it in the future. Its cheap price makes it worth buying

Another example of MMORPG Company gone DEFUNCT
The company that made this game is out of business. So there are no servers hosting the game anymore. Such is the way of things w/pay-to-play games. So many games going bad or being dropped.Fortunately this game has a viable single player option unlike many other games that can't be played except with an online connection. As a single player game it is pretty good. Install it, type in the key, and go. Just don't look for any updates. I installed on windows 7 64-bit and there were apparently 64-bit executables so it runs native.Pros:No crashes. This is one of the most stable games I have played in years. Not one crash yet. I played 20 hours straight over the weekend, and no problems at all, no crashes, no FPS slowdowns, no sound issues, nothing. Makes me happy to have a game that finally works like it should.Delivers on what it says. It is a Dungeon crawl. You do simple quests, get rewards, you know the drill. So it gives what it says it will.Easy travel back and forth. These are multiple ways to get where you want to be so no long runs anywhere unless you want to.Simplified build methods. You augment your armor and weapons in a couple different ways. I suggest going on line for some tips on how to craft/sell items. Makes your game play better.Different warrior types. There are different classes that offer very different gameplay. So you can pick what you like best.Cons:Little replay value that I can see. The maps are not random as far as I can tell so once you have lived a map that is pretty much it. A new character sees old places.Final thoughts:No risk with this one. If you have the time, the price is right.Hail Flavius!

Older FPS that plays great.
It takes a little while to install on newer units and using compatibility mode for Vista gets the install completed. I had to bypass the game interface to select the single player exe through the file manager. The game interface hangs on infinite load. I have ASUS ROG laptop. Network servers are hard to find if they still exist. Great for stand alone, single player. Some mods are available online referenced via YouTube. Product was in great shape.

Make total destroy
A killer FPS/RPG with attention to detail and an impressive ui. Run and gun/slash/summon/cast, have some fun. Play as ranged or melee classes, break down items you don't want or cant use & improve your class-specific gear. As i understand it, some of the Devs that worked on Diablo 2 also worked on this, and it shows. It's true, some of the level designs are a bit repetitive, but you'll hardly care, as it's so much fun to play. The NPC's are hilarious and well voiced; imagine cockney accents with demon fighting in between. bring your strategy cap, they don't hand out victories. :D

An older fantasy FPS that has stode the test of time!
This game is around 8 years old but I believe it has stood the test of time. I had a copy long ago but it's vanished over time. When originally released, it was a multiplayer Game for Windows Live. Unfortunately, neither the former exists and the servers for the game aren't around anymore. There is still a single player RPG/FPS campaign that still works quite well, even without Windows Live and it is quite good. For the the time i had it, I had never seen the opening cinematic cut-scene which reveals the game does have an actual main quest: finding and saving a "special " young girl. You see, the Gate of Hell have opened and London, England has been ravaged, with the survivors living in the subways. You're character levels up and you have many weapon choices, all that can be modded. The only problem is the lack of the save game option, with the use of check points instead. This usually happens when you enter the subway stations. The story line is very much like H. P. Lovecraft's work but is a mixture of fantasy and Sci-Fi, with the weapons being the main element of that. The graphics are still high-quality and the quest challenges do increase with time.I suggest this game to anyone who likes horror, fantasy, Science Fiction, and FPS games. I've never finished it because it DOES get challenging!Enjoy!

It isn`t what they hoped for, but...
For a game that many considered to be a failure (myself included at first), once you accept all of it`s limitations, there`s a lot of fun to be had. The environments are repetetive, as are the missions, and the balancing is terrible. Despite all of that, the monsters are well designed and varied, and there are many hidden sci-fi in-jokes littered around for the few moments you have between being attacked by things. Playwise it`s somewhere between a light role-player and a mindless shooter. Perfect for short attention spans. This game was released in 2007; it`s 2016 now, and I still play it regularly.
