Trius Birdshooter 2

Decent for the money could be better designed
While it worked and I was able to shoot clays there are several drawbacks. The unit is small and fairly lightweight so it has to be pushed into the ground or mounted to a tire. I have only been able to use the ground method and found that the force of the spring jolts this thing out of the ground on almost every pull. Mounting it to a tire may yield better results but I have purchased or found a tire and rim I could mount this to as of yet. The picture shows to birds side by side but if you have it tilted up more it is nearly impossible to get the second to stay in place. There is a little springy piece of metal that holds the first clay in place but nothing for the second so if the angle is great it just slides right off. The only way I was able to shoot more than one was to stack them which works but sends both on close to the same path. I will update this when and if I get this mounted to a tire.I like you use product reviews to help decide if a product is right for me, if you find my review helpful at all please take a second to click yes below this review.

Solid Unit
needed something cheap and portable - this seemed to get good reviews and decided to give it a try. i was impressed - the only complaint is that in some soils the cleats/legs will simply won't 'dig in' enough to stay in place. i ended up mounting it on a couple of 2x4" screwed together in T formation. The purchase of three 3/8 - 8" long bolts hold the unit on to the 2x4s. from there i drilled three 3/8" holes (one on each edge) where i pounded 3/8" rebar through into the ground. took that setup out the range and tossed 300 clays and the unit didn't move a centimeter.

Works great, affordable, throws doubles just fine
I read the reviews and for the price I figured I would give it a try. I don't understand why people have problems with theirs. Mine throws doubles beautifully stacked or side by side, with only minimal tension on the spring, and is not overly difficult to set. This thing functions great. I've used it three times and it has worked great each time. I burn through a box of clays in 90 minutes with my friends with this. I couldn't mount it to my spare tire and don't really get those instructions. It does pop out of the ground a bit but a sandbag as others have mentioned would solve that. I think I will take the base off completely at some point and mount it to a trailer hitch so I can put the clays on the tailgate and not have to bend over to the ground to load it. Very happy with this purchase, cannot beat the price, look forward to using it again this weekend.

Consistent but modifications definitely needed
The media could not be loaded. Took advice from other reviews. Built a T frame out of 2x4s, added heavy duty stakes into the ground vs the short legs included. It still moved and had to retake after 10 launches. Very consistent launches. Also grinded down sharp edges as China manufacturing obviously didn't care. IMPORTANT, wear gloves while loading. It will save you! Overall, great deal for $50.

I reccommend for the casual shooter, great value and worked well.
Worked great. Was not the easiest to assemble and the directions are trash. Much better price than comparable items in sporting goods stores and worked flawlessly once dialed in correctly. Takes a few throws to get the angle correct and requires consistent operation (for instance keep your foot on the rear each time you pull the cord). I recommend replacing the string that is included with your own paracord. I used it to go thru two cases of sporting clays and about 300 rounds of 12 gauge shells and had no problems. I did not mount it to a platform or spare tire (bolt for mounting to a tire is included also), I just sat it on the grass at the edge of the range where I was shooting and dug the spike into the dirt.

Mount it on something
I have had this thrower for several months now. It works great. I gave it 4 stars because it doesn't do well unless you mount it on something. Mine is mounted to 2x2" square steel tubing. I put in in my receiver hitch when we shoot and it works awesome from there. I also put an extra long para cord to pull from the back of my truck. Before it was mounted I had issues with keeping it from moving.

Great for the money
If you don’t want to spend the high dollar for a Trap shooter this will be just fine. The 3 legs have to be driven into the ground to make it sturdy, once that is done it works just fine. It launches 1 or 2 clay targets easily. I find it to be adequate for the occasional trap shooting that I do.

Great product, great price
We were considering more expensive products, but an "old hand" at the trap range had one of these he bought over 20 years ago, and recommended it. We got it, and it works great. At maximum setting it rivals the $650 products the trap range rents for $20/day, but can be dialed back for beginners like us to get familiar with actually hitting the clay targets before adding distance and direction to the bird's flight. The product has very solid construction, with heavy gage steel construction that should last for years.

Works OK
Only used once so far but no real issues other than needing to secure it better. I had legs in about 5 inches of gravel but that wasn't solid enough
