Needed these, because my Arcam Alpha 10 and 9 power amps have bfa speaker terminals that won't accept standard banana plugs in the normal way.They fit well to the terminals and sound great, but their design means that if you want to use thick speaker wire then you may have to make aesthetic sacrifices. I use the word 'may' because it depends on the thickness of the speaker wire and I don't know where the tipping point is.The way these are designed, the outer jacket is removed and the speaker wire is inserted and held in place with 2 screws. The thickness of wires that can be accommodated is really quite substantial, but the problem is that the screws to hold the speaker wire in place are relatively long (see picture) and their tops need to be flush and not sticking out in order for the sheaths to slide over them and be screwed into place. This means that if the thickness of your speaker wire means that when they are screwed in place the tops of the screws are sticking out by more than about 1mm, then you will not be able to use the sheaths.This is how it is for me, because I wanted to maximise the thickness of the speaker wire. As a result, I don't use the sheaths and instead employ red and black electrical tape to insulate and help with identifying +ve and -ve.This does not bother me, because they'll be behind the amp out of sight, but it might bother you more.So ideally they should have provided shorter screws to accommodate thicker wire, but as it is, they are still usable without the sheaths so it's not necessarily a dealbreaker, just know what you are letting yourself in for.

After a month of searching for the right bananas for me, I settled on these.Really wanted the QED ones, but, I thought I'd give these a try as Nakamichi is an old, respected brand - and as the product is considerably cheaper, I could maybe try the QEDs in future.For those who want solid info, I tested the impedance on the connectors end to end 5Hz-20kHz and measured 0 ohms throughout. I also measured on a cable, soldered vs bolted and found no measurable difference - however these aren't designed to be soldered so don't do that if you still want to use them. I do however suggest tinning the ends of your cables with solder before assembly to reduce oxidisation over time.Overall, very pleased with the quality, finish and ease of use and there is no measurable effect on sound quality (which is what you want). Only thing I'd say is using a cable thickness over 2.5mm may give you grief with the sleeve fitting over the grub screws, I used 2.5 with heat-shrink and its very snug.

These sawtooth banana plugs are pretty good, although they feel very lightweight compared to my other banana plugs, which are the more traditional variety. They make a good connection between the speaker cable and the Amp.Overall I am pleased with them. One of the plugs was very problematic in screwing the sheath over the plug top which I contacted the seller about but never received a reply?I had to fiddle with it until I sort of got it to screw in.

I’ve always liked this type of banana plugs, tighter fit than the standard ones. These keep the their tension, the others go a bit slack if you swap round a bit.
