Owners of vintage Waterford crystal are quick to complain that the Waterford of today isn't nearly as good as it used to be. No kidding... is anything?!? I have no doubt they're being genuinely honest in their opinion (I, too, remember what vintage crystal was like); but that doesn't mean today's product is trash, either. Okay, so it's not "as" good as it used to be, but these are top-tier glasses by any standard nonetheless. The Colleen pattern is one of Waterford's all-time classics (to the best of my limited knowledge), and for good reason. It's a beautiful design, much more stunning in person than the photos can depict. The Encore version means that the base is cut also (as opposed to the Essence variant which has a plain base). It's quite an elegant glass, very sturdy, and real (leaded) crystal with that distinctive ring. It's expensive--you pay through the nose for the old Waterford name--but you'll be pleased with what you receive... unless you're an owner of vintage Waterford, I suppose. :-)
