Range Technology AFM Disable Device Green (Green)

We bought this because we were starting to have afm lifters tapping and we were burning through multiple quarts of oil a week. After installing this and driving the vehicle for a while we did notice a like .2 mpg loss we almost don't burn any oil and the engine runs so much smoother. At some point we may have to replace the afm lifters but that won't be for a long time. We also installed the new driver side valve cover and that seems to have helped aswell. Overall if you own a Chevy or gm product with afm buy this. It will extend the life of your vehicle and make it run so much smoother and cleaner.

I thought this must be too good to be true, but based on other reviews, decided to try it on my 2008 Chevy Tahoe 5.3 with 127,000 miles. I did not know that my Tahoe had come with AFM. I started hearing some lifter noise and was getting stumbling and check engine lights on hard acceleration. As this could potentially be a very expensive repair, I figured I had nothing to lose. Just plugged this into the outlet under the dash and could immediately feel improved throttle response. And it sounded like a real V8! It kept improving throughout the following week and now the lifter has gone away. It's now two months later, and the Tahoe has never run better. Plus, my gas mileage actually improved slightly.

I have a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country with the AFM. Got this in the mail today - plugged it in and before I got to the end of my street I could tell a huge difference in the way the truck drives. No more shudder, no more “Chevy shake”. No more super hard downshifts. I am beyond happy with this product. At $180 as well, you can not beat this. If you have any of the problems described above, and before you spend an unknown amount of money at a repair shop, give this little dude a shot. I couldn’t believe it. Excellent product. Install took a couple seconds. Went from burning a tank a week to half a tank a week. I do have to mention that I try not to dog it or beat on it as it definitely will get worse gas mileage. If you have aftermarket exhaust, it will sound 1000% better with no helicopter noise. AFM is a waste or time and destructive to your engine. 5 out of 5 and would recommend to everyone

This thing worked great on my 09 Silverado. Just plugged it in and got rid of the stupid kicking down into 4cyl mode. Fuel mileage even got better. I leave it plugged in and have never had any issues with it running down the battery like some people say they have

I use this in my 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500. The V8 engine has cylinder deactivation where it turns off 4 cylinders to save gas. This has no to have problems in the first years of these engines, where a valve can get stuck and increased oil consumption. To get the valve free can be a costly repair. This tricks the ECM to tell it never to put it in V4 mode. Therefore you never run into the problem when you have it plugged in. It also gives you your full V8 power all the time and you don't get that engine "bog" when you step on the gass and it hesitates to change it from V4 to V8 mode. I have been using it for roughly 6 months now and like it. It is a bit pricey for such a small device, but I rather pay the $200 now than costly repairs later.

I was told by the seller that this had the latest firmware update. Apparently it does not since it suffers with the battery draining issue if left plugged in for a few days and not driven. I would like the seller to make contact so it can be updated.

Installed on a 2015 5.3l Silverado. Gas mileage took a 1 to 1.5 mpg hit, but the overall driveability has improved so much. Less throttle lag, less gear hunting, no droning 4 cylinder noise.

If you have a v8 truck with an aftermarket exhaust..you know how terrible the V4 coming on is. This unit works perfect. Also should help the internals of the engine from failure over the long haul. Worth the $$

Looks like AFM is off.

The lifters we’re starting to make a little noise,and was running rougher, put this in and after a thousand kilometres or so noise went away, started running better, and my trans temperature gauge went back to normal, very happy with this product

Did what it is supposed to

The media could not be loaded.  This device works in a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado LD. Does as it is supposed to but long term use will be the true test. The product’s box seems a little too basic to the point I wasn’t sure if the product was new or used.It is really easy to install and is tucked up high enough where you can’t see it while driving. Getting in and out does seems hazardous to the product.One thing I did notice was before using this product, when I would go down hills and release my foot from the gas pedal the fuel economy would display 0 L/100km. With this device installed doing the exact same procedure ( going down hills and releasing my foot from the gas pedal ) the display now will display 3L /100km.While the item is pricey it doesn’t void manufacturer’s warranty. A tune is the better way to go.
