There is very tiny print on the description of the item buried in the 2nd paragraph that states it does not contain fuel. Also it is in the instruction manual in a 6pt font that says it must be filled. I missed this and need to go purchase butane. I think it would be helpful if they put a sticker on the product itself that says it does not contain butane so when you open the nice box it would be obvious. I was hasty and immediately took it out and clicked the ignite switch, right, cause who needs directions how to light a lighter? So my initial reaction was it was defective.*update* - after using it to light tea light and votive candles it doesn't work well when pointed down, the flame goes out. Gonna try this one: Bernzomatic BZLTR200 Upgraded Flex Stem Utility Lighter only $4 at big box home improvement store.

I bought this to light campfires in a campfire ring, but turns out to be useless. If you're holding it vertically, it "might" light once out of every two or three tries. If you hold it sideways or pointing downward, it will never light. Full of butane or empty, doesn't really matter.Having it light vertically doesn't really help much. I thought maybe I had defective valves or something, but every time I'd get frustrated with it and turn it vertical, it'd light with a couple clicks and work correctly. But then, while lit, if I turned it sideways or down to reach into the campfire, it'd go out within a second or two.Sorry, but can't recommend this for any use other than 1870's street lamp lighting... And I'm fresh out of those...

Bought this to take camping. filled it with butane and this thing won't stay lit. To add insult to injury (almost) the gas continues to come out of the device even when you don't push the button.I really wanted this device to work but it just simply doesn't. Save your money, look someplace else.

This is a sleek, all metal lighter. I really like the design since it isn't as bulky as the last one I had. It has an adjustable torch-like flame, and when I was filling the lighter with Colibri butane, I didn't notice any leakage like some cheaper models experience. The only thing I don't especially like is that there is no window to show how much lighter fluid is remaining in the lighter, but other than that, it is just what I was looking for. I used it to light several grill and BBQ fires, and it did a fantastic job lighting the charcoal with the blow torch like flame. It is nothing like the one I had before that would barely stay lit. It works well in windy conditions as well.I highly recommend this lighter and would not hesitate to buy it again, but I think it will last a long time as long as I take care of the lighter.

Very Poor Performance. Worked once initially. I purchased butane to refill, would not work again. Will be leaving a bad review and trying to find a suitable replacement. I followed the instructions for refilling. Weighing both the can and lighter at several points during the filling process. I did confirm butane was being transferred. The lighter simply failed to work more then a few times. Initially felt like a good product but closer inspection it's quite cheaply made. I was ready to spend a premium one a long lasting lighter and was sold shoddy crap. I should have taken heed to the low reviews before buying. You should do the same. Please link me to a great Grill / Fireplace lighter i would appreciate it.! This is going BACK!

Started out gas valve wasn't shutting off completely after switch released (flame continued to burn until valve slowly shut, aprox 3-4 seconds). If you weren't paying attsntion, you could set it down and unknowingly start a fire (other than the one you intended). I rolled with that and didn't send it back. Eventually, the valve started working properly and shut off. After probably an estimated 30 or so usez, the valve does not work at all. Ignitor is firing fine but gas valve does not open. Tried to google instructions to disassemble it and try to effect repairs but found nothing. I would avoid this product and look for a more reliable lighter.

This item just arrived yesterday and I've used it numerous times today. It is a really well designed product. The flexible neck is great for reaching different targets. I like that the safety switch can be permanently set, unlike lighters that require a separate child safety button to be pressed every time. The ignition button is easy to press, good for people with poor hand strength. The flame is strong and hot, and it goes out quickly after the button is released (all jet lighters have a delay).

It’s a multi branded single source Chinese item. It was a bit more difficult to fill than the similar more expensive item I also ordered - Lurraping. However that could be item - item variation or more trapped air. It works fine so far and is cheaper. Hopefully last longer than the Costco multipack lighters.
