This was what I needed. It closes the switch when EITHER sensor is tripped. I was able to extend the length between the 2 sensors, put one at the top of the stairs, one at the bottom. Switch is closed for around 40 seconds, then it opens again, waiting for either sensor to trip again. LED strips light up the stairs "like a runway.", according to wife.
