Where Are You Going? To See My Friend! (English and Japanese Edition) Hardcover – April 1, 2003

This book is simply amazing, and whether you are learning Japanese or not, I highly encourage everyone to check it out. First of all, Eric Carle. Enough said. Then, to add a Japanese author/artist made it all that much more amazing. I am in love with the fact that the English half of the book is read left to right, and that the Japanese half is read top to bottom, right to left, and the two meet in the center of the book. The story itself was adorable and heartwarming, and my girls ask me to read it again and again. For those of you who have trouble with Japanese pronunciation, I thought it was also wonderful that the syllables of the Japanese words are sounded out for you (eg. Doe-ko-eh ee-ku-no?). All in all this is a wonderful book and I suggest everyone read it. ;)

Written in both English & Japanese with phonetic pronunciation for the Japanese words. Nicely illustrated.

I'm half Japanese and am always on the lookout for new ways to teach my son Japanese, here in the US. We came across this book at the library and he fell in love with it!He is almost 2 years old and the fact that this book is full of the animals he is already familiar with, from cat to dog to chickens, makes it a favorite of his in both languages and on both sides. I was so pleased to find it available on Amazon.

My mother is Japanese and I wanted to find a book we could read together with my daughter. It gives her exposure to an new language and includes three generations in the fun.

I love this combo of the Eric Carle classic and the addition of the Japanese version. Great for the families with hapa children o grandchildren!

英語のクラスで使おうと思って購入しました。「中身のプレビュー」と少し違う版が届きました。私に届いた物は、楽譜のページに伴奏譜がついておらず、メロディーラインだけの譜面でした。そこが、ちょっと残念だったので、★をひとつ減らしました。後は、ほぼイメージどおりで、満足しています。
