I was really excited for this as its beautifully painted. I'm actually pretty disappointed in the ay it was designed. The hook is so wide and the base so small, that you can't even hang an empty stocking on it without it falling forward.

I bought two of these stocking holders & they are very cute! However, they do not hold stockings well at all. They don't have a lot of weight to them. I added 2 very light things (a candy bar & a DVD) to one stocking that was hanging on one & it completely fell off the shelf. What is the purpose of a stocking holder made to sit on a mantle or shelf, if it can't hold the stocking?? Way overpriced for something that doesn't do it's main job.

Beautiful hanger. Perfect for the mantle. Only it's very shallow with a large hook so it falls and smashes. Do not put any weight (like a stocking) unless you stick it down somehow!!! This is my kid's favorite though, with the little snowman.

I very nearly didn't buy this product because of the negative reviews. However as it is such a delightful & fun stocking holder I decided to take a chance. On the plus side it arrived well before the expected date AND it was very well packaged, nothing broken. On the negative side there does seem to be a design fault, the hook for the stocking holder should protrude more which would make it more stable. Being aware of all the comments, hopefully, this item will give us much pleasure for a long time.
