Review: We love this thing - Color laser printers get a bad rap as far as printing anything beyond simple graphics. With decent photo paper, I've gotta say, I'm really impressed with how well this prints photos, as well. Sure, it's not quite professional quality, like you can get with a good inkjet on photo paper. But it's WAY better than I expected, and really plenty good for the rare situations when we want a photo printed. And other color graphics/images look as fantastic as hoped/expected. Even on normal laser printer paper, you can print off nice color graphics for kid crafts or embellishing hobby projects, and they come out really nice. While it's true that most people don't NEED a color printer, it's been a more useful and fun luxury than we anticipated. And while the cost-per-page is going to technically be higher than say an ink tank inkjet printer, this is an overblown concern for many/most people. The (relatively small) difference in the cost of the printer itself might justifiably matter to some. But the cost of toner vs ink is only going to be significant if you are regularly printing a LOT. What matters more to me -- and I suspect many people -- is that (like any laser printer) this sucker NEVER DRIES OUT. You can go a month between printings if you want, and it doesn't matter! You don't get sideswiped by clogged nozzles when you just want to hop on really quick and print something. You don't have to go through cleaning cycles and spew out tons of ink and use up paper. You simply print stuff when you want to, and it just works. It starts printing pretty quickly, too, within 15 seconds or so for the first page. I don't know why I saw at least one other review claiming it took much longer than that. I'm glad it has an ethernet connection in addition to the WiFi option. And the little color touch screen, while not necessary really, is kinda handy sometimes. So far the toner economy has been phenomenal. Even the skimpy starter cartridges lasted way longer than I expected. Again, it all comes down to your print load. If you're pumping out hundreds of pages a day, yeah, you probably want to look elsewhere. For a typical home load, I maintain that this thing is amazing.
Review: Owned for almost 2 months now. - Getting close to 2 months of ownership now and very pleased with this printer. Things I’ve learned after using is this will never compete with a jet printer for printing photos. I knew this before purchasing but still tried it out and it doesn’t even come close to my jet printer for printing close to professional prints. It just turns out grainy and a waste of toner. While this isn’t a true laser printer since it uses Leds instead of a laser to form a picture it still excels in everything a laser printer was created for. This printer prints brilliant sharp text, graphs, and does it economically and fast on both sides of paper automatically if needed. Also the size, yes much smaller than floor models rated for heavy office work but still large and heavier than a person would expect if choosing this for home use because it’s built like an ox. Had no problem connecting it to home WiFi and works excellent with AirPrint from iPhones. Worried that I would miss having a built in scanner but I just use an app on phone to scan then print. Very pleased with my purchase so far.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: When purchasing, does it come with the ink cartridges??**
A: Yes, it comes with a set of toner cartridges. They are starter cartridges, but we have printer over 200 pages on them so far. Also, a full set of replacement cartridges from 3rd part manufacturers cost less than ink for most inkjet printers.

**Q: Is this an actual laser printer or only performs like a laser printer?**
A: The HL-L3270CDW uses technology similar to our color laser printers but uses 4 LED assemblies instead of a laser unit.

**Q: Is the black true black or compiled from the colors? in other words if i run out of cyan can i still print b&w?**
A: The HLL3270CDW has a black toner. If your machine's cyan, magenta, or yellow toners run out, you can choose Mono in the printer driver to allow you to keep printing.

**Q: Does it fax**
A: It won't scan or fax, but you can use services such as hellofax or hellosign to do that if you absolutely need to do so. You can also use an app called Microsoft Lens (free) for scanning from your smartphone.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great so far!

Had this about two months now, and it's been honestly better than expected. All my files (vector and raster graphics) were set up to print on inkjet, and I've had to do VERY little tweaking to get correct results on this laser. Colors look as expected with no weird hue shift or the "burnt" looking red/orange tones some lasers yield, and prints are smooth and saturated with very little banding or other artefacts, even on large fields of solid color. Installation was pretty quick and painless, it doesn't spam me with annoying popups and messages and prompts to BUY OUR OEM SUPPLIES!!1!, and so far I've had no major issues with printing (standard copy paper, high-res paper, light cardstock, matte and glossy full-sheet labels). If it's been "asleep" for a while and I wake it up to print something and use the manual feed tray right off the bat, it will often balk at the first few sheets I run through (paper jam! open printer cover! PAPER JAM! check tray! paper jaaaaaam! open rear door, we be jammin') but once it warms up and calms the H down, it'll go and go and go. Only other complaint so far is that I gotta figure out how to edit the default print profile to NOT automatically do double-sided printing, argh. Oh, and the other issue I'm sure you'd be curious about : YES, off-brand non-Brother toner carts work just fine in it (so far).
