Nice device to monitor moisture content in musical Instruments
Having just an Oasis humidifier doesn't tell you how much humidity is going to your precious musical Instrument. This device monitors the moisture being provided by the Oasis humidifier. A nice companion tool so you Don't over humidify and monitor under humified Instruments.

Passable results
I bought this and another brand to humidify an archtop guitar. The hygrometer works fine. The humidity from the device didn’t make much difference in the case. I suspect it would take a few weeks to bring the humidity up to 40%. The other one, with a piece of memory foam in it, was more effective in raising the humidity.

This kit is great. I live in the northeast and while we had a mild winter this year (2015/2016) it still got pretty dry. I recently invested in a new Taylor 214CE-K-DLX and wanted to make sure I took good care of it. This was my first acoustic and I never really had to worry about it with my electric (maybe I should have?). Anyway the shop I bought the guitar at threw in one of those ones with the little square sponge you put between the strings that hangs down into the body. I got sick of checking it and having to fill it ~1 every other day. So I went searching and this seemed to be the best option. I've had it for about 3 months now and have only had to fill it 3 times after the initial fill and acclimation of the case. The clip is nice and secure over the thick Taylor hard case. It's pretty discrete and keeps it tight to the case and out of the way. The magnets are strong enough to keep the humidifier from flopping loose in transit. The syringe it comes with is handy too. Saves a lot of spillage, I'm sure. The hygrometer is nice to have, it gives me peace of mind to know the humidifier is doing its job. This thing has kept my case right around 43% since I've gotten it. Very happy with this purchase I would highly recommend this type for anyone looking for a low maintenance solution to keep up the humidity in your guitar case.

Humidifier okay; hygrometer not so much.
This review is more about the hygrometer than the OH-6 humidifier. This looked like a good idea—a humidifying device and an instrument to monitor the conditions. Great in theory; poor in execution. The thermometer/hygrometer is highly inaccurate. I live in the Philadelphia suburbs and it was mid-August (a.k.a. hot & humid!). My central air conditioning had been on since the middle of May. In the ten days that I tried this, the hygrometer read a constant 55% humidity whether in the guitar case with the humidifier unit or on the dining room table reading the air in the house that is being dehumidified by the A/C system. How could this be? I took it outside on a day when Accuweather and another thermometer I have were reporting 89 degrees and 70% humidity (I could feel it!), and sat in the shade for three hours and this instrument reported 95.7 degrees while the humidity reading dropped from 55% to 49%, then down to 44% and then back to 49%. Seriously? I could have cut the air with a knife. After sitting outside and sweating while watching the gauge, I went back inside and it promptly returned to a reading of 55% humidity in the nice cool, dry air in my house. I don’t expect pinpoint accuracy, but this is not even close. It reads the opposite! Clearly this unit is defective. As far as the humidifier unit itself, I assume it works since I put water in it and it did shrink, indicating that some water had evaporated. I just was not able to measure its effectiveness due to the inaccuracy of the hygrometer. Since I purchased these as a set, I had no choice but to return both despite that the humidifier looks like it might be just fine. Needless to say, I am grateful for Amazon’s wonderful return policy and have since purchased the OH-6 humidifier by itself and continue searching for a monitoring device.

Oasis OH-6 case humidifier
I have found this product to be very helpful in maintaining a higher humidity in my guitar case than what is in my house. Some earlier reviews mention the time it takes to see a difference and I also found that to be true. However in noting that this passive device is changing the humidity not just in the air within the case, but in the guitar wood as well as the case material, I do not find it unusual, nor a flaw in the product. In my new all wood guitar and wood core case it took about 3 weeks to move from 40% to 55%. It has been staying stable +/- 2% since, with the humidity in my house around 40%. In an effort to maintain the wood moisture content stability, I am careful not to leave the case open nor to leave the guitar out when not in use. Overall, I would say it is a good product with the one drawback of requiring distilled water, which is hard to find in small quantities and an opened gallon will not stay pure long enough to utilize. The Hygrometer is small, but easy to read, and can be conveniently placed out of the way. It has current levels as well as recording highs and lows. All I needed.Good value, good product.

Nice humidifier for guitar case
I bought two sets of these. The guitar case humidifiers work great, and are easy to attach and position with their magnetic clip fastening system. I recommend purchasing the gel crystals refill kit Oasis OH-4 Humigel Replacement Kit , in case you're a klutz like me and accidently squeeze too hard during a refill. In the event you do have to refill the humidifier, I recommend thoroughly flushing out the remaining crystals, and starting fresh. Otherwise, it's very hard to guage the right amount to add. The refill kit contains enough for several refills, and has easy instructions to follow. The digital hygrometers seem to be fairly accurate, as they read within a few percentage points of each other. After a couple of months, one of the hygrometer read-outs went kind of wonky. I rebooted by sliding out the battery holder from one end, and sliding it back in. Seems to have solved the problem for now. The longevity of these lightweight units remains to be seen. The hygrometers take a single CR2032 battery, and have been on the original batteries for six months now. Probably time for a change-out.
