Irish Setter Men's 3865 Borderland Oxford Casual Shoe

I just graduated to a standing desk at the workplace. It is quite the life change, but has thus far worked out for the best. What I did learn early on though is that the run of the mill work shoe or even casual shoe will not work; your heels will feel all sorts of pain. For reference, I had been wearing Sperry Twill Sneakers. Clearly not meant to be worn when standing 6-8 hours/day.After utilizing my two main sources for information: Reddit and Amazon Reviews, I concluded that Red Wing shoes was my Buy It For Life – comfort – shoe to go with. Luckily for me, and didn’t even know it at the time, there is a Red Wing Shoe store ¼ mile down the road from my work. I popped in to try some shoes on and see how they matched up in size, look, and comfort. Walking in off the street with my Sperry’s and sliding these bad boys on – I was sold. However, I was not willing to pay the $170 in store price tag for this item – that’s where Amazon comes in. I ended up buying my pair for $69 on Amazon, seemingly because there was only 1 pair left in my size that was fulfilled by Amazon and not a third-party.I highly recommend these shoes for anyone who stands or does a lot of walking around during the day.Do take note that they do in fact run a tad large, so when purchasing – go ½ size smaller than your normal everyday shoe. This will save you time with having to return them and allow you to be satisfied right out the gates.Depending on your comfort level – they do come in extra wide and standard. The standard is snug. If that is what you prefer (having your shoe hug your foot) then go with a standard. If you prefer breathing room, then go with the extra wide. I tried on both and the extra wide is still very comfortable and not super wide to the point that you are swimming in your shoe. So keep those two points in mind when ordering.These definitely have more of a leather/moccasin look to them in person. If you are looking for more of a work appropriate – yet similar shoe – check out the Irish Setter Soft Paw Oxford. It is the same concept, but a tad more workplace. I simply preferred these more, so that they can act as a both a work shoe and weekend shoe.(Also, added benefit, if you go into a retail store post purchase, they have free shoelaces and shoe buffering. The company itself is of premium quality.)

I ordered these along with 3 other pairs from other brands using Prime Wardrobe, which allows you to try on and return items that don’t fit right. These boots fit great and I love the fit!! They are so comfortable I look forward to wearing them every day.Previously, for many years, I loved ECCO boots but the model I had been wearing was discontinued so I tried 3 other ECCO models, but returned them all and decided to keep these and so glad I did.They are heavier than the ECCOs but feel more substantial and sturdier. I have been converted. They are not sold in any local stores so I’m glad I included them in the Prime Wardrobe - give them a try and I bet you’ll be surprised at how well they compare to your favorites and maybe you’ll buy them as I did.

They are reasonably priced and sturdy. Built quality is good. I wear the Borderland Oxford as street going casual shoes and sometimes as hiking shoes. They are good for both, really. They look good as casual shoes and provide good traction on unpaved trails. This is my second pair. I had to give up my first pair reluctantly as they still had years of life in them . I had to simply because they were over sized. I ordered a US 9 (EU size 42) about 3 years ago and got a pair which were more like a US 9.50 (EU size 43). I ordered a pair of US size 8.5 this time around. I got the "right" size, at last. Otherwise these are very good shoes which I would recommend. Be careful about the size, though.

Runs about a half size too big. Fits more like what used to be called a Moc (slip on shoe popular ten years ago...) but ties up like a casual dress shoe. I liked its rugged casual look, tread and color matched picture online. However, after trying it on around the house it was obvious it ran large,though wide width worked. I exchanged it for the Irish Setter Soft Paw shoe in same size/width, as this was my present shoe I was in need of replacing. Great shoe, just not what I was looking for.

A really good looking shoe,that says"Real Leather". The best part is, great for ankle and bowed out feet support and still looks like a normal shoe.Not to long ago, I bought a so called american chinese wana be hiker shoe at one of those so called americana outdoor clothes stores and went washinton state park to do some hiking with my wife. The shoe's sole structure collasped and messed up my ankles so bad I had to go to a podisrist. I will never buy another cheap shoe again. This may cost maybe forty dollars more,but wiil outlast two of those other shoes.The weird part about is the shoes, are comfortable right out of the box ,no" break them in time" So if you want a great shoe that is american made,I would recommend these shoes..

I do not get high priced shoes but now i see that is a misstate as I can't believe how well they fit and feel. you need to man up and pay the price you will not be sorry

This shoe so comfortable, makes my 20,000 a day manageable. Only problem is the shoe wears our in 4-5 months. Great shoe , super comfy just wish I could get more time out of them

These shoes are well made and durable. They are also the most comfortable walking shoes I have ever owned (I'm a heavyweight 77years old and have owned many). I use them regularly to walk, both in parks and on rougher trails. They do not give ankle support, of course, but are good on any surface. The nubuck exterior requires some extra care, but there are several products available to protect against water and stains. Brushing with a rough brush will keep the surface from becoming shiny.

I have been wearing these shoes non stop for a couple decades now, and they go for about 2 years wearing daily, winter and summer. Canadian winters, so I spray them with leather protectant. My only complaint with these shoes is the stitching on top of the toes ALWAYS WEARS OUT, and they come apart. You would think by now, that they would have figured that out, and use better quality stitching. POOR QUALITY STITCHING. Other than that, they are great.
