Don't waste your money
Worthless garbage. I would send it back, but it's not worth the hassle and shipping cost.First, when I read the directions, they said that the receiver must be within1 meter of the pairing device. What? I thought that this was a misprint. Maybe they meant 10 meters, I mean most Bluetooth devices have that range. Nope. When I plugged my ear buds into this receiver, and paired it with my phone, the sound started breaking up at 2 feet and cut off completely at 3 feet. Unbelievable. The quality of the sound was horrible as well. I wish that the items description had said that it had only a 1 meter range. This must be why it comes with a belt clip :(What about using the TRANSMITTER function? Can't say. I was never able to have it successfully pair with either my phone, or two different Esinkin Wireless Audio Bluetooth Adapters, no matter what the distance. So much for the idea of using this to transmit the sound from my TV across the room at night.I'd give this ZERO stars if I could. I really have to question the positive feedback given for this item. There is NO way that I received the same thing as them. Not even close.

Day One: No Complaints
The small unit showed up on time, and was fully charged. My interest was using the unit primarily with a pair of 66 Audio (moderately priced) Bluetooth headphones. To keep this short and sweet, I read the simple manual first, and set the bluetooth to transmit and it paired with my headphones flawlessly. I plugged it into my stereo headphone jack, and voila; Music. Now I'm not going to pretend that the quality of sound is as good as a wired audiophile set of headphones, but there's nothing better then not needing a leash across the living room! And now I'm watching a movie through the stereo at 12 am while my wife sleeps and I'm pleased that it's silent while my wife is sleeping 15 feet from the television (small house). I don't notice any lag, but there is a bit of hiss in the background. No biggy. Also, I can walk at least 20 ft from the transmitter without loss or drop. I am confident that this will also work with my MP3 player and computer. I can't speak for the battery life yet.

UPDATE ( 6:37 AM Sunday, September 27, 2015 (EDT) )
UPDATE ( 6:37 AMSunday, September 27, 2015 (EDT) )I'm unsure what version , I assume its low on the ladder of versions and quality ; its not going to transmit or receive a strong signal I noticed , the Audio quality received is lower then my cheap Bluetooth headphones ; the Arctic P311 ( although the Arctic hurt my hears for the first few months ).My reason for getting the Cootree, was to use seamless ear-phones when walking outside; to listen to music from a MP3 player that transmits a single . Also to receive audio from my old laptop; which actually does not have a Bluetooth nor WiFi transmitter, it can only receive WiFi internet signals . How I get the Cootree to work with my laptop is, I use the software and USB-transmitter bundled with my Artic P311.That software acts as a way to handle the signals from a computer menu , from any Bluetooth . You can get that software, and probably transmitter here > http://www.bluesoleil.com/products/S0001201005190001.html . With that software and accompanying USB-transmitter ; I can detect the Cootree , and anything in range. The Cootree is handy, but after month using this , it just has poor audio quality ; the reason being it can't transmit a strong signal , And it's battery is short lived, so that is going to become very irritating pretty soon after purchase .If I had to rate the Cootree again , I would give it 3 stars.Simply because of the low battery life, and the poor audio quality with which for a few dollars more, can be improved with a better product. The Cootree does not have volume control , which if it did; i suspect would drain the battery even quicker. So you'll need a volume control from the source of the audio received .The Three good things about the Cootree is, the size, the transmitter and receiver built into one ; and the fact you can use any of your favorite earbuds with it.You may also want to Consider the Kinivo BTH220 Bluetooth Stereo Headphone .If you want higher quality , check out reviews from this guy - 1. https://youtu.be/nIXaNXwXkQw and this guy2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtEFIsYHbIUIf you have more questions let me know. I will try to help.

Nice unit but lacks lower frequency.
I would give this unit 3.5 stars.First the good:-It was pretty easy to set up, and connects quickly to your devices one it is paired.-The battery life is good so far. I have used it for a couple days at the gym for about an hour and a half each time, and I still have not had to recharge it.-It is extremely light, and if you clip it on to an article of clothing you will hardly notice it is there.-You can charge this using a regular micro USB cable and need no special adapter, unlike some of the other similar units which have odd connectors.-The fact that it can function as either a receiver or a transmitter is a great added bonus. Now the negatives:-Lack of controls on device. This isn't a big deal, in fact, some might favor the simplicity of the device. But, personally I think it would be a nice feature.- Frequency response is lacking. This IS a big deal for me, and why it loses a star and a half. The sound quality is definitely lacking in the lower spectrum when using this unit, compared to going directly from the source. I've A/B'd with several sets of headphones, first plugging directly into the source, and then using this unit and also using other Bluetooth units. The Cootree was definitely missing some of the lower frequency range.
