Very Good Sturdy Unit
I purchased this product in Nov 2016 (although Amazon says I purchased the PowRyte) with the intent to ceiling mount it. My instructions for ceiling mount were not crossed out, so I skeptically mounted it on a joist (one I had to beef out for the mounting bracket) overhead. It is definitely not ceiling mountable without modification because there is no kind of retention on the pin (pipe). Despite that, it has been a good unit. The retraction mechanism has worked flawlessly for me and the hose has held up to multiple walkovers, rollovers and the occasional pinch from the hood or car door! The hose is adequate for smaller air volume air tools like die grinders, air nozzles and the impact wrench, but not so good for higher volume tools like the dual orbital and longboard sanders. It is great for pulling out for quick jobs like pumping up tires or blowing out debris from your projects because it is easily retractable for quick storage and the 50' hose allows for a long reach before requiring an extension. The spindle spring is quite strong and when retracting, one should be careful so as to prevent being hit by the coupling end!I have not had any problems with this unit in the three and a half years that I have owned and used it. I would certainly recommend it should it ever be available on Amazon again (currently unavailable).TIP: To secure this for ceiling mounting, I plan to drill a 1/4" hole on the top of the mount above the pipe as well as the bottom of the mount and run a steel rod through, securing it with a washer and a pin on each end. No, I have yet to do it, but hope to post a picture when it is completed!
