They need direct sunlight as much as possible. The more hours of sunlight they get, the longer they will glow for. However, they actually stay lit longer than most solar items, and give off a stronger light. Im quite impressed with how long they stay lit for with just some sunlight!The stars are really cool. If you want really bright, small stars projected, these need to be placed closer to the ground. If you want somewhat faint, large stars projected, then hang them on tree branches or somplace else several feet off the ground. Either way is nice.They are durable. Mine have dropped onto a sidewalk a few times and the only thing that happened is the solar panel popped out, but it can just be popped back in.They have lots of uses. You can use them to jazz up your yard or a garden, or just bring them out on holidays.
