Frustrating app and setup process, but a good product
I bought 3 of these. 2 worked and the 3rd does not, but returning/exchanging through Amazon is easy. What I love about this product is the real-time, accurate usage data. What’s frustrating are the setup process as well as the iOS app if you’re using more than a single device. The user interface is not intuitive and it’s very confusing. For example, one of the devices failed to connect initially to the WiFi and the app wasn’t able to handle that elegantly resulting in a partial setup/configuration that turns out to be impossible to delete (it tells you it deleted the configuration, but it doesn’t actually do so). Even uninstalling and reinstalling the app doesn’t fix this example problem. Similarly, if you find you’ve configured one of the devices in the wrong location or wrong “room” and you want to move it in the app to a new “room” then you have to delete it (per the help forums). And I just explained what happens when you try to delete a configuration. It doesn’t end well. Again, I think the UI/UX and navigation pathways will be improved through software upgrades over time. But be warned that the current version of the app (as of Nov 3 2018) is exceptionally frustrating to use. I don’t think these cautions are reason not to buy the product. It does what’s advertised, if you can get past the setup and the app frustrations. I do recommend the product assuming you trust the developer will improve the user experience and design of the app over time.

BUYER BEWARE... DOES NOT WORK... VERY LITTLE SUPPORT
I bought four of these and used them quite extensively. I've recommended many people also buy these to monitor their power usage & keep schedules for grow tents, crypto minors, etc.The app has received one software update in the last 2 years. And since that update, the app no longer works to log in, add rooms, add outlets, create schedules, adjust times for on & off, check power usage, etc. It literally doesn't work at all anymore. It now functions as a manual switch until I get my replacement smart outlets in to throw these out.I hate leaving bad reviews, but its been 2 months of this without any support from the developer to either roll back the app or push a new update to fix the issue.

My "top" outlet is stuck on. I found out within hours that my top outlet is going to be useless as a smart outlet. I'm very experienced with IoT devices and have had outlets and lights before. Originally I thought this would be perfect because it's reversible, looks awesome, has two outlets, is integrated with Google Home, uses no hub, was average in price, and has power monitoring. The app is also fairly nice.I tried a generic troubleshoot by flipping the plug, plugging the wax lamp into the other outlet, using the buttons (which still work fine), uninstalling/reinstalling the app, unlinking my Google account, removing and adding into the Google Home app, reinitializing, UNPLUGGING IT AND PLUGGING IT BACK IN, and deleting any rules completely off the app.TLDR; Top outlet doesn't work with Currant app or Google Home (in app or voice) and switches back to "on" no matter what.Long Form:Setup was Initially mostly easy. The biggest problem I had was that it took awhile for it to connect to my WIFI (2-3 minutes) and I just wasn't sure if it was going to time out.Hours later I'm about to go to bed and my girlfriend prompts Google to turn off "wax lamp" with voice so I don't have to go through the hard work of reaching over to my night stand to pick up my phone and turn it off in the app. Well lo and behold, as soon as it switches off, it turns right back on as if to just mock me like this is the real way SkyNet ends all of humanity. I say it again thinking maybe it was a fluke and I'll get a different outcome. Now I'm generally a calm person, but when new technology interferes with my sleep, I lose all senses of humanity. Startling my girlfriend who's watching in horror, I shout at it like a child that's deliberately trying to piss me off. This time, it switches off and back on in rapid succession 3-4 times as if there's a poltergeist inside it, and it stays ON. So after getting a healthy adrenaline rush, frightening my two feline creatures, and scaring my girlfriend half to death, I hobbled my fat ass over there like some lowly medieval peasant, and pushed the button on the outlet (with my very own hand) to turn it off. Needless to say, that didn't help me sleep.When I contacted support, their response was both clueless and completely ignored my very detailed description of what happened (including the fact that I used a voice command) and how I troubleshooted. They said, "Hi! Your account log shows the outlets turning on and off based on commands from the app, within a second. Is it possible you’re double-tapping the switch, or dragging it with your finger?" Look, I'm no rocket surgeon, and I'd be willing to bet either of the aforementioned cats in this fable are magnitudes smarter than me, but to assume I'm an idiot is genuinely insulting and I replied, "That's absolutely not possible as I'd have no reason to double tap the button during my troubleshooting. As I may have explained, the top outlet is the only one with the issue. Furthermore, it's not that it's not turning on or off, but it reverses my action after I only press it one time. Or like I took the time to explain, that I could use the Google service to turn it off and it comes back on. That's the case even if I use the voice function that I use daily with other IOT products. Basically, I can't turn off the top outlet because after I press the button once, it automatically turns itself back on all by itself. Your logs will show it's switching on and off and back on, but I'm not switching it back on."I've worked customer service and tech support most of my life. The most you can ask for is people who are specific and don't cuss you out and I have done exactly that. Only now I still haven't had a response back even now.So if you want a seamless experience with a customer support that bothers to respond, it sure as hell won't be found with this product. Amazon has been great though and I very much appreciate the generous return policy.

Worked Immediately, and Flawlessly
I bought this so that my espresso machine could be scheduled to turn on and heat up before I woke up in the morning. I was also curious what the energy consumption was for the machine, and the Currant was one of the few that offered that function. I had the currant outlet working in five minutes from unboxing it, and I have not had a single issue with it in the two months it has been powering my machine.The thing that sold me was that the power outlets are featured on the side of this machine. I hate the look of most smart outlets because the plug comes so far off the wall. This model is very sleek, and looks good, even when appliances are plugged in.I highly recommend this product.
