Hi, thanks for your question and it’s definitely not a silly one! The Phono Box S2 would be an ideal partner to a Pro-Ject Debut Evo. Just connect it to a line level input on your amplifier or active speakers. The settings can be easily set using the dip switches on the bottom of the unit and the settings for 2M Red are laid out in the manual. Kind Regards,

Yes - it is a phono pre-amplifier for both magnetic and moving coil turntable cartridges. With adjustment of small switches underneath the unit for the type of cartridge fitted to your turntable the signal level fed into an amplifier will be the same as any other auxiliary unit like a CD player.
