## Overview

The Superite AR-5000 is a CE-certified, heavy-duty 5000W voltage converter and regulator designed for seamless step-up and step-down voltage conversion between 110/120V and 220/240V. Featuring five multi-standard outlets, built-in stabilizer, circuit breaker protection, and a rugged metal casing with handle, it ensures reliable, continuous operation for sensitive electronics and high-demand appliances in regions with unstable power supply.

## Description

The Superite 5000 watt Step Up/Step Down heavy duty voltage transformer with regulator is equipped with circuit breaker protection so you'll never need to replace fuses on overload. This unit has built in stabilizer or regulator which will help maintaining the fluctuation of the current at steady level. The AR-5000 is compatible to operate on 50 hz/60 hz. It is designed to convert single phase 110-120V to 220-240V or 220-240V to 110-120V. This CE certified transformer is safer with advanced side vents for ventilation. It is recommended to buy a Voltage Converter/ Transformer that's max watts is at least 50% higher than your appliance. For example, if your appliance is rated at 1000 watts, you need to buy a Transformer with a max power of at least 1500 watts or greater. Some appliances, such as heating appliances, power tools, motors, laser printers and TVs, require 2-4 times more watts at start up than the printed rated wattage. AR series transformers are equipped with high grade copper coils which makes them energy efficient during voltage conversion.

Review: 50% Quality Control - I purchased two of these units for use in a post-Soviet, non-EU, Eastern European country and have found their quality to be servicable after inspection. The primary issue was that although both units were functional, only one was usable out of the box. The other unit was assembled in a slipshod manner that required some servicing by a local electrician to function properly as it automatically set off the breaker when turned on. The only other problem is the unit makes a very audiable elecrical crackling noise when supressing surges, although I admit that may be a feature to let you know it is doing its job properly. Otherwise, it has done an excellent job keeping my console game systems and LED projector running, as well as all of my US kitchen appliances (1000w coffee maker, espresso machine, can opener, blender, etc.) without any problems. So in the end it's a great value and I recommend this unit to anyone as long as they can get a competent electrician to look at it before using it on the local power grid.
Review: I love this superpowered transformer. Now I have Nest-like control over my window/wall air conditioner. - Wonderful device. I got this transformer so that I can connect my 220v window/wall air conditioner in my apartment to the 110v Belkin WeMo Insight automatic switch. I needed to step down the voltage of the A/C to get it to work properly. The power plug of the A/C was also one of those weird 220v plugs. When I initially got my WeMo Insight switch, through some wire trickery I did something dangerous, I plugged the 220v A/C directly into the 110v switch using speaker wire and tried turning the air conditioner on. It did turn on but just barely, it was hardly moving any air and didn't cool down anything. So I got the transformer, which had a built-in power port that supported the plug from the A/C unit, set it to 110v down step, and then plugged the transformer into the WeMo Insight switch, which was connected to my WiFi network. Now with the WeMo app, I can turn the air conditioner on and off remotely from anywhere in the world where I have an internet connection on my phone/tablet, be it WiFi, 3G, 4G, anything. The purpose of the WeMo Insight Switch was to give me the automation capabilities that come with a NEST Smart Thermostat, but the Nest only works with central air/cooling/heating. With the WeMo app and IFTTT (IF This, Then That), which allows me to create custom recipes to get my switch working how I want it, I now have it set up so that my air conditioner will automatically turn on when I reach my own custom-specified radius from my apartment and turn off when I leave that or any other set range, will turn on if the Weather Channel says that the outside temperature exceeds the temperature I set it to turn on at, or any other number of possible recipes that involve all smartphone and tablet devices and stuff like gmail and facebook and everything. I had to get the 5000w version of the transformer to cope with the power-on surge of the air conditioner. If you don't know what this is, when you turn an A/C on, it takes a huge surge of power, typically twice the power of that when the air conditioner is actually running. Kind of like when you turn on a car. So I got the 5000w transformer and it copes and performs with aplomb both with the Low Cool setting on the A/C (which is what I use most of the time) and the High Cool, which uses over twice the power. Also, the WeMo app tells you how much power the device is using and how much that will cost you on your monthly bill, plus how many hours it runs daily, average, etc, and same with power drain. The most expensive part of my electricity bill in the past was the air conditioner, which has brought the electric bill in my medium sized apartment to nearly $500 in the past, but now the app tells me that the A/C should contribute no more than $40-$50 to my total energy bill, bringing it down by nearly $200 monthly. I also at the same time replaced all the bulbs in my apartment with LED's so let's see how much my next energy bill is. If you have an apartment and one of those window/wall air conditioners like me and want to bring energy costs down, I highly suggest doing what I did with the transformer and the Belkin WeMo Insight switch.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this reduce my power bill?**
A: NO, it will not reduce your power bill, but you will benefit from it by being able to run different items off of it fron 120 volt to 240 ac...very handy when needed.

**Q: In addition to stepping down from 240v to 110 (which I understand it's made for), will it simultaneously step up the frequency from 50 hz to 60 hz?**
A: Not sure it will.

**Q: I want to put 240 volts ac into the device and get out 120 vac @30 amps out, but I dont see in the picture how to input 240 vac @ 15 amps?**
A: If I got the question right, than you just plug it into 120 or 240 volt outlet and use the relevant output on the front of the device.

**Q: Can this be used to power an air compressor 2 HP.**
A: Will handle it easy...

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good but big and heavy
*by S***9 on January 3, 2017*

So far the step up step down works well. We use it for our coffee machine which is a big industrial one and our toaster It does make clicking noises and seems to draw a lot of power so be careful about tripping fuses. In our kitchen is ok. It's is very big and so does not look very nice but it's cheaper than buying a new coffee maker. Easy that it has 2 power sockets that fit European and UK plugs. I would have preferred more sockets.
