Russimco Knitting Doll, Various

Knitting Doll Various and a picture of 3 certainly led to my surprised when I received one knitting spool not 3. The problem is I need 3 not 1 for a class tomorrow. I did not think to read reviews since it is a simple product but over a year ago someone pointed out the misrepresentation. 3 would have been a good deal; 1 is way overpriced for what it is.

My daughter went to town right away with this kitting doll, but the red wooden handle of the knitting needle separated from the natural wood on the first day & had to be re-glued (I see now that a single piece of wood is in the photo of this item, but ours was made of two pieces). We moved to a metal embroidery needle instead. The center hole of the doll is very rough, so we used that same embroidery needle as a weight to drop threads through the center to start a new project (thread gets stuck on the rough interior). Also, you need to use only a certain lightweight thread b/c the knitting can get too thick with anything heavier than the gauge sold with the kit. Finally, the instructions made no sense at all--so we had to go out to YouTube to find visual instructions on making two figure-eights with the yarn to start a new rope. The doll is cute, easy to hold in the hand, perfect for a young child, but those other areas needed to be navigated well to make it usable. Still, we're keen on keeping & using it, just want to let others know to be Buyer Aware. One person here posted that she sanded the interior--we may end up doing the same if we use it more & more, but in the meantime, it would be so nice for the manufacturer to fix that flaw!!

This is really cute and works as expected. My main complaint is that the needle slips through the center hole, so there's nowhere to hold it unless you keep it all in the box. I have another one of these that's designed like a mushroom and the needle fits nicely in the center without slipping out. That makes it much more convenient and less frustrating. So I almost always use that one instead. Also, it'd be nice to be able to select the style you want instead of having one randomly chosen for you. I ended up with a style I didn't care much for.

This is a great pastime for growing children. It is fun and promotes coordination. I purchased for my 3rd grade students. My third grade boys last year loved it. Although the last batch I bought were plastic and the pegs easily broke off. So hopefully this purchase will be long lasting. We'll see in the coming school year!

Got this for my granddaughter and when it arrived I had to sand the hole out. but she loved it. only bad thing is the directions are not very good but, can find good ones on line!

Very cute and good quality. Came with a very nice large assortment of colors of yarn. Perfect activity for snowy or rainy days!
