Comparison: Dropcam Pro vs ImogenStudio
I currently own this camera and the Dropcam Pro. Here are some things I've noticed when comparing the two:1) Set Up: The ImogenStudio camera was MUCH easier to set up. You would think the Dropcam, given its price of $200, would make set up available using a smartphone (this might have changed with their newer, Nest version, not sure). However, with the older Dropcam Pro you had to hook the camera up to your computer and set it up that way. Extremely inconvenient. The ImogenStudio was simple enough using your mobile and took approximately 10 minutes to have up and running.2) Image Quality: Of course the Dropcam takes the cake on this one, but you're also paying an extra $150 because of it. The ImogenStudio camera could be better, yet you're only paying $50 for it. You get what you paid for. The quality is acceptable for monitoring purposes but don't expect to clearly identify an intruder through its use.3) App: Both have pretty reliable apps. I've had the ImogenStudio camera for a little over two weeks now and each time i open the app, I have a live video. No real complaints. In all fairness, I found the ImogenStudio app easier to save screenshots.4) Overall: It's pretty unfair to compare the Dropcam Pro vs the ImogenStudio but that's what I have. In general, for around $50, the ImgoenStudio camera is a pretty good deal. Once again, don't expect it to outshine higher priced cameras with video quality (I've even attached some pictures to compare). However, its reliability and easy set up make it a good deal for those that wish to use it for monitoring purposes.Any more questions? Leave me a comment!UPDATE: I've seriously fallen in love with this camera. Motion sensor is perfect for my needs and can be adjusted. I've recently purchased one more for myself. I also got one for my friend for Christmas...after her install, she was so impressed that she ordered TWO more!

Camera is fine. Cloud storage is worthless.
Pros:The camera itself is fine.Cons:The cloud storage of videos is worthless, which makes the camera worthless too. This service is supposed to store videos in the cloud if it detects motion. Unfortunately, the cloud service only records those videos at certain times of day. After going around in circles with their "customer service," the best I can conclude is that, at certain times of day, their servers get overwhelmed and stop recording video. "Customer service" gives a hundred different explanations for what's going on, but I think the answer is they don't want to invest in increasing their server capacity. So as long as nothing happens on your property during the 50% of the day when their servers are not responding, you should be fine.

Great for a remote area, not so much for a home...
The media could not be loaded. Alright, one month in and time for a review!Pros:- Well built: Construction quality feels nice.- Looks nice (subjective, sure)- Has night capabilities- 2 way audio works well- Video quality: Not HD but certainly passing for what it is.Cons:- Motion Detection: This is the biggest. Admittedly onboard motion detection is difficult, but at the lowest "sensitivity" setting I get on the order of 100 notifications per day while at work. Important things, like clouds. I had to reposition from day one (243 notifications during work hours) to an area that was less light sensitive and also less effective at watching the house (down to 122 notifications yesterday during work hours). At that sensitivity level, it can't detect me walking to and from the kitchen at midnight, which is a big deal for anyone using it as a security camera. 98% of alerts are like the one seen above (happens whether the fan is on or off).- Software: App for iOS fails to log in, tells me my saved password is incorrect, etc constantly. It's also been saying that my "free trial" of motion detection expires a month after activating it, while the description says "lifetime". I haven't hit that limit yet, so I can't say for sure. Also the app is desperately in need of an easy "I'm home" button (geofencing or "when I'm on the same network" would be better) so I don't get a constant stream of notifications while I'm home.-Audio monitoring: Constant cyclic feedback. Very annoying. See video. First day i was 100% certain my house was haunted.Bottom line, if this was for a infrequently used area like a detached garage, storage area, etc I'm sure it would be fine. As a living room monitor, I'd avoid it.

Awful Device, Awful Christmas Gift, Awful Experience
Bought this for my parents for Christmas. Stopped working after a week, but couldn't return to their home until a few weeks later to help them return it, but now it's too late and outside of the return window. Additionally, during the week it did work, the "1 Day Free Lifetime Cloud Service" is a lie, it does not exist. If you go to their website, it instead says the camera is not intended to record continuously, only to capture events, and it can record events, but you must pay for the service. I buy a lot of things on Amazon, and I am highly disappointed. My parents would have preferred I bought this from Walmart, because they would have been able to exchange/return it themselves, instead I opted for Amazon because I have always had a good experience, but this item has changed my mind. How does a thing like this stop working after a week? They've trouble shooted it, I've trouble shooted it, they've contacted the manufacturer, they have talked them through multiple things, nothing has worked. In summary: Free Cloud Storage is a Lie, Device Quit Working after a Week of Operation
