Transform your E-Bike
Using on a Cube Hydro and transforms the bike. Battery life isn’t affected terribly and I use the Touring setting mostly but when I stick it in Turbo I can get 50 KPH on the flat.

Not MY2020 compatible
Doesn't work on drive units running model year (my) 2020 software. Well it does for a few hundred miles then is detected

Shows what we should be doing to expand realistic cycling uptake. But there’s a catch!
Reasonably easy to fit but fiddly getting the crank off even with the recommended tool! Bosch motor cover takes a lot of patience to get aligned correctly and screwed shut again after fitting. In use, the SB2 is great! You’ll soon be keeping up with the lycra crowd, which I suppose is the whole point of restricting the motor in the first place as theoretically, you could, if you’re fit enough, get up to silly speeds for a road bike that was not intended for it. Battery life is very compromised by high speed runs in ‘tour’ mode and higher, but it’s definitely better than finding yourself struggling when the motor cuts out in restricted mode. Expect a halving of the range when unrestricted and plan your outing accordingly. Speaking of which, with the SB2 fitted and regardless of whether it’s on or off, the range indicator is (on my bike anyway) complete nonsense. As the battery reserve bars are still reasonably accurate and everything else works OK, you can safely ignore the range indicator. Use the battery’s on/off switch NOT the Intuvia’s for trouble-free operation. The illegality of using the bike on the public highway is likely to put most people off; but so are the ridiculous hoops and hurdles you have to go through to license and insure the bike to comply with legal use. Not to mention the fact that licensed pedelecs can’t use (most) cycle tracks and paths and if you’re caught going downhill doing 25 MPH in a 20 MPH zone, you can be fined while Mr Lycra can speed on regardless.

Fantastic
Works perfectly and transforms your bike. I can comfortably do 32 mph with some assistance on private land. Bosch pedal assists are designed to run at this speed in Germany and Holland where it is legal so it has had no detrimental effect on the motor whatsoever in 18 months of use. Holding walk down for 5 seconds activates it and you can deactivate it for public cycling to stay legal. It’s expensive but worth every penny.
