The New Testament in Its Literary Environment (Library of Early Christianity) Paperback – January 1, 1985

I purchase this book for a class. It was recommended by one of the authors of another book. It is an excellent resources for engaging exegesis and biblical interpretation.

A useful book by a capable author.

I feel like David Aune doesn't get the respect he deserves from evangelicals. He is a high-caliber scholar who consistently pumps out fantastic resources and pushes scholarship forward.Marc Axelrod wrote a helpful review. See his for more detail.One thing that has not been noted is that Aune offers short annotated bibliography after each chapter, to help the reader pursue the topic further if they are so inclined. Any time you can get a scholar's thoughts on other scholarly literature is a real treat. This is a solid reference work on the nature and genres of the New Testament literature. Highly recommended!
