Great quality
Absolutely love the quality of this jacket. Fits true to size, easy to wash and the zipper is not like others that catches or breaks. Very comfortable, soft, and even has been good in rain.

glad I got a small. sizing chart is correct.
Amazon had a note on the product page: "Large will fit you best based on data from customers who buy the same sizes as you" - I wanted to believe this algorithm was correct & glad I read other reviews - I'm 5'7" 110-115 lbs w a waist size of 29/30" - I looked at the sizing table and sure enough Small is my size which I was suspicious of as I usually get Medium. I got lucky Medium went out of stock & gambled on the Small. while waiting, I realized my trusty old fleece I am replacing is a Columbia & a Small! that cinched the deal & put me at peace. When it arrived today, it fits just as well - it doesnt seem as thick as my old one so I'm gonna just have to try it on my upcoming trip to cooler regions & see how it performs. I hope it lasts as long as my old one - it's easily been a daily driver for over 5 years (I wouldn't doubt if it is 10 years old to be honest!) - the cuffs are completely stretched out & just found out it will be easy to replace the broken YYK zip pull so it will be regulated to casual use as it a *very* effective middle layer with a turtleneck (or thermal) underneath & windbreaker on top! again, this review is mostly to inform about sizing to help others nail it the first time - I just put my experience with a prior Columbia product I've been more than happy with that led to this purchase. I'll probably update this review after I've used the new one extensively in a very similar manner (esp camping 🏕️) UPDATE (5/2/23): the new one seems surprisingly warmer - I don’t know if it’s because of the sheer age of the old one - but thinner/warmer/lighter is always welcome. I also noticed they cut costs by only putting one cinch buckle around the waist (it used to be on both sides) - the quality of the buckle is smaller and clearly cheaper & the elastic that goes around is thinner. I’m glad the waist elastic is still in the product but it sure doesn’t look like it’s going to last 10-15 years - I guess we’ll see. you’ll also have to wash and/or air out the fleece - while it’s not overbearing - I could tell my skin felt a bit sensitive to whatever leftover chemicals that were left from the process and I only put it on for maybe 15 min while it was new? and I can confirm that they’ve switched from the embroidered logo for a stitched tag - before it was very subtle and blended and now it’s blatant branding (which I do have mixed feelings about). The zips are still YYK fortunately. This one is made in Bangladesh (where my old one was made in Vietnam). okay these are just first impressions - now to put it to some rigorous field testing for a few years! UPDATE (6/8/23): just got back from a 18 day trip and this has been field tested :) it did well in 50 degree weather in the Santa Cruz mountains layered w a turtleneck (UNIQLO heat tech) and a windbreaker (I could notice a big difference without the windbreaker, in fact, I was cold in 50 degree weather. In 60 degree weather layered with a quick dry T & long sleeve shell, I was plenty warm without the windbreaker). Something that is annoying is the way they've attached the rope pulls on the zippers - they've come off 2 or 3x already - you're likely to lose them if you are not careful. Once it came off casually & yesterday I went to wash it & one was just lying inside the machine - it's only attached via a simple loop to the zip pull & clearly a "cosmetic" thing. I'm tempted to dock a star but from a pure functionally standpoint, the fleece did its most basic job (keep me warm!) and looks so much better than my drab grey one I had prior! I'm still satisfied :)

Black Is More Like a Grayish Black
This is a very nice Columbia fleece jacket. The material is so soft and lightweight and just super cozy. The zipper seems durable and of strong quality and the two nice size pockets have the same zippers as well. I appreciate the drawstring around the bottom of the jacket so it can be snugged up to keep the wind out. The sleeves have elastic to keep the ends drawn up around the wrists to protect a draft from entering the sleeves. The high neck zipper collar is also a nice feature which keeps the neck warm during those cool breezy days. I gave this jacket a four star rating because it's supposed to be black but it's actually a grayish black. For that reason, I did return the jacket because I needed a true black color jacket.

stylish and practical jacket
This is a quality, versatile jacket that can be worn from early to late spring, early to late fall and even some days through the winter months. The fleece is super soft and yet durable. I have the same jacket in black and have had it for several years. The material does not peel or fade. The elastic around the wrists, drawstring around the waist and full zip seal out the chill. The side pockets are zippered, so it is easy to stow small items. It is a very reasonable price for a great jacket.

Bought Two of These...Odd sizing...Very nice and warm!!!
So I bought two of these fleece sweaters and both are made well and very warm. Style is comfortable and overall as expected. My only dilema is this. In black this fleece fits a bit snug, but pretty close to the average size large. The tag says large and what not. However I also bought the same fleece in Red and this one fits a bit larger almost like it were an extra large, but not quite as big. Still bigger and more roomy than the black. Again, both say large and all the tags seem correct. As for me, I'm pretty much small enough to wear a large, but also big enough to wear an extra large without it looking too huge. So, what am I to do? Do I keep both knowing one is a big more snug while the other is a bit more roomy? Who knows, but if you were to buy two of these that would be the only way to compare the different feels on these two fleece sweaters that are supposed to be identical in every way except the color. I'm keeping both because they are very comfortable, but again my dilema being the odd sizing between the two colors. I'm tempted to e mail columbia on the issue, but not sure what they will say. I may anyway and if so I will update this review later. Enjoy and keep warm...these fleece sweaters will serve you well. UPDATE: So I returned the smaller size of the black fleece and ordered an extra large one. I got one labeled "L" and fits like the red one which fit more like an extra large fleece. Basically in a nut shell, I'M DONE WITH COLUMBIA. Sizes and quality control cannot be trusted. The sweaters are nice in terms of the fabric, but everyone is making fleeces now. You can get a normally sized fleece at W@lmart and it would probably be more true to the labeled size than gambling on Columbia sizes. Between returning the products, shipping labels, inconvenience, I probably broke even or so had I just bought this retail and picked the size that fit me in person. If you want to gamble on what size you're actually going to get compared to the labeled product and what you actually ordered then by all means keep buying Columbia and figure it out on your own. I'd rate these fleeces at about a 2 stars only because I like the fabric, but its not worth the hassle because Columbia doesn't have their sizes or tags in order. Were these all just one big oops and being pawned off on amazon to clean house, or does Columbia care? Well, glad you asked because I contacted them and their best solution was to order one directly from them instead etc. Really? So if I bought a HONDA from a dealership and the car is all screwed up, then does that mean I have to go to Japan to get it squared away? What's the point? Funny, I used to work for HONDA and they made sure the cars were in order. On the other hand Columbia either cares about the products they are putting their NAME ON, or they don't. From my experience....they don't. You think they are going to issue a recall for these fleeces? NOPE. It's easier to sell them anyway and have people lose money, time, and convenience sending them back and forth to AMAZON because the sizes were screwed up in a factory overseas. I'm surprised Amazon is still selling these with all of the conflicting reviews on the sizing. Sorry COLUMBIA, I own 3 products from you....you're OUT!! No more.

my favorite sweater
This has become my favorite sweater because of how comfortable and practical it is for everyday wear. The material feels soft and warm without being too heavy, which makes it easy to wear in different weather conditions. I especially like the higher neck design, since it adds extra warmth and a bit of protection from the wind. The zipper pockets are another great feature. They are really useful for carrying small essentials like keys or a phone, and I appreciate not having to worry about things falling out when I am moving around. It makes the sweater feel more functional than a typical fleece. One important lesson I learned is to always zip it up before washing. The zipper did get damaged in the washing machine the first time, which was frustrating and ended up being the reason I replaced it. Since then, I have been more careful with how I wash it. Overall, it is a comfortable, practical, and well designed sweater that works well for daily use. As long as you take care of it properly in the wash, it holds up nicely and remains a reliable piece of clothing.

L'Apparenza inganna, 1 stella e reso immediato.
