Even though I wish there was a little more bass, this unit has impressive sound (in fact, its sound earned the two star rating, and not the one-star that I was tempted to give). If I had just bought this for the sound capabilities, I would've given four stars. However, I didn't. I am a carpenter, and I bought this because it's supposed to be rugged. After a couple drops, two corners on the metal face are already bent. They claim 8 hours on a full charge, but I only get two. Granted I listen to it close to max volume, but I would expect something that is marketed as an outdoor accessory would be able to play at loud volume for extended periods of time. I only found out that this speaker is not in fact water, dust and shock proof, it is only *resistant*, and I had to google what IPX3 rating meant. Even though the title still says proof, it is only dust and water resistant if left standing still, or tilted up to 60 degrees or some jargon. IPX67 is the rating for everything proof. Skip this well marketed lemon and find a speaker that's truly water, dust and shock proof.

sound quality have a distortion when it crank to the max but it's loud...bluetooth connection start to on/off when your 15ft ayaw from it...battery only last for 2.5hrs...charging the unit is just estimation because the led does not turn off when it's full...packing:box does not have plastic so it has been open or they ship me a return unit too...i dont recommend this to anyone for this price...better look for a good set of speaker...but louder than Braven

Love my Roq Bloq! it's is very durable and sturdy. it measures 6-1/4 inches L, x 2-1/2 inches H, x 2 inches W. Thick rubber frame. Sound is Super Loud and Clear. My son is a Line man, works outdoors on telephone poles, he carries his "Roq Bloq" in his bucket to listen to music while they work and loves the sound. It also has blue-tooth, you can use the hands free feature to answer phone calls. Sounds great at the beach too!

I've had several bluetooth speakers including some really cheap ones ($25 or less) and really expensive ones (Bose). This one fits in the upper half for design, appearance, durability and sound/functionality, but on the bottom half as far as price.One of the annoying things about Bluetooth speakers is that they are designed either to be a piece of art, sit on your dresser or desk, and are damaged if you so much as knock it over. The other extreme is that it's made for the shower or pool and looks like a mushroom or orb from a foreign planet.This one fits square in the middle of those and has a precise attractive industrial metal, rubber and speaker covering. As long as you are careful enough to not throw it in the washing machine or in the swimming pool, all of the incidental water I've had it encounter hasn't caused my any problems-- at the kitchen sink while cooking, in the shower hanging off of the shower head but not in the path of water, and pool side/beach side are just as good of options.The sound is as clear as I have had from Bose, and far louder than I have had from the equivalent Jawbone Jambox, but not as much bass as the Bose, and this is typical for speakers that are geared toward outdoor use. With ambient sounds of outdoors, water etc. it's more important to have a loud speaker than bass that you can't hear in that environment anyway.Pairing the device was easy. The instructions were simple and complete. The only confusion I had was with charging. I expected the charging light to turn off but it did not. Volume adjustment is easy, track back & forward is easy, and there is a light embedded in the speaker grill to give you an almost constant status: Streaming bluetooth, cannot connect, etc.The only frustration I had was that the forward and volume buttons are muiltifunction. Press and hold makes volume go up & down. Press and release quickly changes the track. I personally adjust volume more than I adjust tracks so this works in reverse to my expectations.I never use these kinds of speakers as my bluetooth phone device so I haven't tried that.Finally, the most simple but my most favorite feature of the speaker is the rope on the end. This has been perfect for hanging it and securing it in places where I would rather not balance it alone.This speaker is stylish, rugged and loud. This one is one that I'll keep in my backpack for summer fun, while my other overstylized speakers will stay home on the desk.By a lot of hard hours and days and years of time spent reviewing, I found myself in the top 10 reviewers on Amazon. for the price there are better units out there. the range isn't as good as I had hoped and the led charge indicator never turns off, even after a full 12 hours of being plugged in. the sound is pretty good, but for the price you could get a little better. The one thing that is really irritating for me is when I pair this with my iPod and us Pandora, you must hold the + or - minus button on the unit to raise or lower you volume on the unit it's self. not a huge problem unless you don't hold it down long enough and end up skipping through the songs. I'm still considering returning this item

Kick A$$ little speaker! The volume of sound out of this little thing is unreal. Enough for the beach party all by itself. Bluetooth is cake and its battery life I found was very good, at least several hours at high volume before needing a charge. You wont be dissapointed.

We were looking for a portable Bluetooth speaker that would travel with us, give us great sound quality and be a bit rugged, we are thrilled with our choice. We didn't think we could find all this for this price point and fill out full with list.

I've only had this potent little speaker for 3 days but it is already proving to be an indispensable part of my daily"wardrobe". The bass is certainly strong enough to pound out the tunes and the mid to upper ranges are very decent. For the price, it's a screaming value! Love it.

Great speaker, would buy it again! We haven't tried it at the beach yet but I'm sure it will hold up, so far everything about it has been as expected.

It was a 4 to 5 star product while it was working. Then the charging usb connector suddenly broke and I can't use the speaker anymore. Now it is nothing else than a nifty and expensive paperweight.
