Works
Easy to use and very effective. The trees that have them have gained considerable protection. I'll be adding more of these to provide one/tree coverage.

Simple and effective, one element of a larger strategy
These spheres are work reasonably well whether you are growing fruit trees organically or with pesticides. The application of the Tanglefoot adhesive is quite simple but plan on using multiple disposable gloves. My only suggestion is there should be longer ties to attach the spheres to branches -- I made my own. The company doesn't provide a reason for why these spheres should only be a few inches from the branches. Are the insects that smart? It seems leaving them more exposed say by dropping down 8-10 inches would work best. Basic string or even two 12" zip ties work well. Time will tell....

DO NOT USE DANGEROUS TO BIRDS!!!!!!
I have just taken two injured chickadees to a local wildcare hospital after finding one stuck to this trap, hanging by its wing, and the other on the ground below, missing wing feathers and covered in sticky stuff. I suspect that they will not survive and feel just awful about it. Please do not use these traps as they can harm and kill small birds. My traps also seem to have failed to catch any codling moths - my apples are full of grubs not a single moth on the trap. They have been up for several weeks and mostly seem to have caught beneficial insects and the two birds.

somewhat effective
It comes with 3 balls and the sticky substance you have to paint on the balls yourself. If you don't mind the mess, this is a pretty inexpensive way to go as the balls can be cleaned and the sticky substance reapplied. It works well for trapping anything that comes close, but without the pheromone, it traps everything equally and doesn't target the moths.Wupdate - a few months laterIt is well into the season and while the product does trap anything that comes close - it isn't any better than flypaper as it doesn't include a lure for the moths. Also, since it traps everything, including gnats and bees, it quickly loads up with other bugs and has to be cleaned (a somewhat messy process) or it won't trap moths. This product was not nearly as effective as a different product that i purchased last year that included a lure. I saw very few months trapped and I have more worm damage this year than last year.

Three Stars
More durable than expected based on previous reviews, but the attractant attracts way more insects than just apple pests.

Works good
"Paint" goo and hang orb on tree. Works like a fly trap."Wash" off with mineral spirits and use again. We have children that play around our apple trees, and are trying to stay as chemical free as possible. We have an orb on each tree and each orb has caught 100's of bugs.Probably will be buying more to catch even more.

Simple and easy.
Looks good, even fools people from a distance. Many bugs "stuck" to trap. Too early in the season, but looks promising.

DO NOT USE THESE - KILLS BIRDS!
Please do not buy this product. Birds are attracted to the dead flies, and it in turns turns into a death trap for them. I found a dead chickadee on one of my spheres yesterday, and promptly took all of them down and threw them in the trash. The company should look into surrounding this sphere with metal mesh to spare the birds from a painful death.
