Nelvana of the Northern Lights Hardcover – December 9, 2014

Thank you Hope Nicholson for painstakingly collecting and producing this wonderful collection.A complete collection of the Nelvana of the Northern Lights stories from 1941 - 1947. What a treat to be able to have a full collection of the very first Canadian superhero!

This is a wonderfully odd comic book series, definitely of its time. Some of the fun is imagining what the differences would be if Nelvana was drawn as an actual First Nations arctic superhero, with more authentic cultural details incorporated. My favourite panel shows Nelvana's stationery while she is posing under an assumed name as a secret agent!

This book is a typical early comic book, the problems dealt with are purrly local but the superhero is canadian and that gives a view of canadian comics in the 1940s.

A good compilation. Painstakingly researched and collected. Very few superheroes around other than the usual DC and Marvel.

It is worth noting that page 238 is in the wrong location. It should be moved into the preceeding comic where it belongs

Hope Nicholson has done it again. What a fabulous book. It is a great companion piece to her Brok Windsor collection and the Hirsch/Loubert history of Canadian comics from WW2.

As a comic book fan from Canada, I felt the need to be introduced to Canadian superheroes. This is a fantastic insight into the golden age of Canadian superheroes. Two thumbs up for the effort put into this reproduction.

Fascinating and entertaining - wish it was in colour.
