I saw her attention perk up when she brought home a Dog Man book from her school library (admittedly, not my favorite series, but to each his/her own...). I looked up "other series like Dog Man" and this was one that popped up. I went out on a limb and purchased the first book, which she devoured in less than 2 days. Completely on her own! I'd never seen her fly through a book so fast, and for the first time she asked me to buy MORE books for her. I got the rest of the set and she completed all 10 books in < 2 weeks. It got to the point where I had to remind her to turn off the light and go to sleep because she was so engrossed in reading! Things took off from there, and she's been churning through other graphic novel series ever since.
