One of the better compilations
The best is obviously the Vagabonds Kings Warrior Angels box set, but this is a great retrospect into what was the great rock band Thin Lizzy. It also covers a few tracks from Phil Lynott's solo work. Dear Miss Lonely Hearts, King's Call, and the first 7" remix of Yellow Pearl. You know, the Top Of The Pops theme. Just a little thing to point out. On amazon, it lists Hollywood as being live from 1983. It's in fact from 1981. November 27 to be exact. It can also be found in a special edition of Thunder and Lightning, which features a bonus 12" live LP. I must say, the added crowd noise at the beginning sounds horrible. I have the FM broadcast of that show, and they go from Renegade straight into Hollywood. It just sounds a tad unnatural, but you get over it once it really gets going. Another side note, it's the same performance that is on the Life live album before being overdubbed. Are You Ready from this compilation though comes from the Life live album. Black Rose is not live as mentioned in the amazon tracklist. Emerald is though although amazon doesn't list it as being live. It's taken from Live and Dangerous, as is Rosalie / Cowgirl's Song. Just get it. It's a great compilation even though it leaves off some stuff, as all compilations do. Opium Trail or The Pressure Will Blow anyone? Correct tracklist below.1. The Boys Are Back In Town2. Jailbreak3. Don't Believe A Word4. Dancing In The Moonlight (It's Caught Me In It's Spotlight)5. Rosalie/Cowgirl's Song (Live 1976/Hammersmith Odeon, London, Live and Dangerous)6. Waiting For An Alibi7. Do Anything You Want To8. Sarah (Version 3)9. Chinatown10. Killer On The Loose11. Call Me a Late Bloomer!
I guess you can call me a late bloomer because it was only recently I started listening to Thin Lizzy. Although I have heard "The Boys Are Back In Town" and Metallica's cover version of "Whiskey In the Jar" on several occasions, I haven't given myself an opportunity to listen to more of their music until I bought this two-disc compilation. Upon listening, I started to realize what all the fuss was about because these guys have released some of best tunes of the classic rock era. I also wondered why I didn't start listening to them sooner. Better late than never, right? Although this Greatest Hits album only scratches the surface in my opinion, it's got 36 of their best songs ever compiled onto two discs. I became a fan for life after buying this. Maybe you will, too.

Excellent classic rock music.
The music industry does not care about Rock&Roll anymore. The glory days of music are long gone but thankfully this compilation of hits from Thin Lizzy was made. What great straight up rock and roll this is. Highly recommend to any fan of classic rock in general. Radio stations only played like 2 or 3 songs from Thin Lizzy from what I can remember. I had no idea how many other amazing songs they produced.

Brilliant album!
If you like rock music, this is a must for your collection.I was surprised just how many of the tracks I had heard before. Most are real belters and great if you play air guitar. The ballads are heartfelt and beautifully produced. What I like most though is the musicianship of the band. Phil Lynott, with his very distinctive style on bass guitar, and Brian Downey on drums were the backbone of the band - a wonderful rhythm section. But it was the introduction of two lead guitarists that made the hair stand up on the back of my neck as they either complemented one another, or played against each other. The list of guitar players is legend, including the brilliant Gary Moore, Eric Bell and Snowy White to mention just three in a regularly changing line-up.The few live tracks showcase the verve and power that made them such a popular live band to watch. Catch them on YouTube if you have never seen their stage performances in front of their amazing fans.Sadly, Lynott, the lead singer and main songwriter, died far too soon. What the band could have gone on to achieve we will never know. This album does show the direction they were taking - and it is well worth the small price. Turn it up loud and enjoy!

Thin Lizzy - Greatest Hits (2CD)
Great selection of hits, from this fantastic band, and various tracks, sung by one of their legendry front men, Mr Phil Lynott. Without speaking in superlatives, it's a great double CD, with easily recognisable hits, as well as other gems, which may not get much air time. This album also features tracks, featuring another legendry musician, Garry Moore, and Phil Lynott, one of my favourite songs, Out in the fields (catchy tune), dealing with the issues of the times, still relevant today.A great album to listen, or give as a present. either way, it's a fine purchase!

Ridiculously good album.
Only on track eleven of thirty-six of my first listen as it arrived today, and loving it.EDIT: Now on last track of the double CD. One of the best albums I ever bought. Gorgeous mixture of musical types in the tracks, eg like Parisian Walkway, and the Irish one. ... (As someone else reviewed, each track has it's own identity.)There's also a happy vibe to the whole of the album's music too.

Thin Lizzy Greatest Hits Compilation
For all of us, there are certain groups or albums that define our teenage years and for me, Thin Lizzy was one of those groups. From the initial "Whiskey in the Jar", through "Dancing in the Moonlight" / "Boys are Back in Town" etc etc, the group produced a solid string of hits with a strong baseline signature.During those times the "Alive & Dangerous" album was the one to own and, in truth, they were probably one of those groups that excelled best on a live stage.Sadly I never got to see them.Phil Lynott had a troubled personal life (apart from Leslie Crowther being his Father In Law!) and there was always a sense of inevitability about his future. This is an excellent compilation (& history) of a group with quite a few songs that I never tire of and still sing along to. They still sound as fresh (& relevant)today as ever which is testament to the quality of the songwriting & execution. The remastering of the tracks improves them further. They were what they were - an honest band and what you saw & heard is what you got - quality and boundless energy.

One of the greatest bands ever!
I was fortunate enough to see Thin Lizzy four times between 1976 and 1981 and they were just amazing in concert, best live act I've seen and I've seen a lot. This 2 CD set is the best collection I've seen of their songs and I still play it constantly. I never ever get tired of the Lizzy and feel that they never received the recognition they so clearly merited. If you're unfamiliar with Thin Lizzy but just want some power driven, melodic rock, buy this and you'll appreciate the genius of the band. Their best known track is "The Boys are Back in Town" but there is far more to them than that. At last a collection that does justice to the wonder of Lizzy and, if you're not familiar with the band but love hard rock, this is for you.
