A new Horrid Henry book is still an event in our house and there are four new stories for fans to enjoy: Horrid Henry and the Revenge of the Bogey Babysitter, Horrid Henry Tells It Like It Is, Horrid Henry’s Krazy Ketchup and Horrid Henry’s Chicken.Of course, everyone remembers Rabid Rebecca, the Bogey Babysitter, who managed to get Horrid Henry into bed while it was still light out – that is, until he discovered her fear of spiders.... In this story, Henry is having a sleepover with Rude Ralph and he has a babysitter – enter Rabid Rebecca, who is determined not to be outwitted this time. In fact, she has even brought reinforcements, in the shape of her friend Rancid Rachel. Can Henry and Ralph outwit both of them and get their hands on the yummy chocolate cake in the kitchen?In Horrid Henry Tells It Like It Is, Henry has to make a film about his family. Of course, he would rather make a film about mutants, or zombies, but with a little editing, it could be interesting... Horrid Henry’s Krazy Ketchup, sees Henry asking his mean and controlling parents if he can’t squeeze his own ketchup onto his plate, rather than have one of them allow him the merest, tiniest squirt, which can hardly be seen. Nothing could go wrong with that, could it? In Horrid Henry’s Chicken, Henry ‘wins’ the chance to have the class pet – Deadly Delores the chicken – to keep for the holidays. There’s only one problem with that – Henry is scared of chickens, although it is not something a fearless pirate leader wants to admit to.To be honest, this is not one of the best Henry books I have read with my children – I still think the early books hold up better and seem to be the ones which have been requested the most as bedtime stories over the years; the first nine books are all absolute classics. Still, this is a good new collection and will be enjoyed by boys and girls of all ages.

I have a Great Nephew who I introduced to the Horrid Henry series of books several years ago, and due to their funny take on a young boys' experiences have ensured He is still an avid reader of the series. In fact, He wrote a book report on one of the books and received an 'A' for his efforts from his English Teacher - I am so proud of Him!
