Product Description Himalayan hand-made candles are hand poured in small batches and are made with a clean, long burning soy wax blend which melts away leaving behind a decorative container that can be reused time and time again. The soy wax contains over 80 per cent American grown soy bean wax which has a dense creamy texture. Fragrances are complex and layered with a high fragrance ratio to ensure a fragrant candle burn. They have cotton wicks that burn with a minimum of smoking and soothing. Victorian lidded jar. Brass framed etched glass with a hinged lid and pedestal feet and finished with a hand dyed silk ribbon and dust cover. The dust cover is decorative and must be removed prior to burning. This item is available in red currant fragrance (apples, oranges, currants, herbaceous florals, forest pine and geranium petals). 70 hours burn time, 16 oz/0.453 kg. All candles come in a brown craft style box packaging. Warning: Never leave a burning candle unattended. Burn candles out of reach of children and pets. Great quality unique item in a decent box
Great quality unique item in a decent box. Made an excellent present, both as a candle and as a trinket box for afterwards.

Didn't receive what I ordered
I expected to get the redcurrant candle in a glass jar with a hinged lid. What I actually got was this Himalayan Candles Mandala Mountain Forest Iron Pot Candle, Small - a mountain forest scented candle in a metal pot with a wooden lid. Looking at the reviews for the iron pot candle, it seems that some of those people received the lidded jar candle. Is the company just sending them out randomly???Ok, so to review the candle I DID get (the mountain forest iron pot version), this is a good sized candle which will clearly burn for a considerable number of hours. Like all these things, the scent is lovely – if you like that scent (and it’s not the one I ordered). I certainly find it pleasant, complex/sophisticated, not artificial smelling at all. So overall I am pleased with it.Why only 3*s? Well this is a VERY expensive product and I don’t feel the quality of the finish warrants the £27 price. For instance, the staining on the wooden lid is patchy – no “master artisan” would be pleased with that finish.

Got Mountain Forest Instead - It is Lovely
I was supposed to get the Currant scented one to review - however I was sent another of the Himalayan Candle Products - Mountain Forest. This comes in a decorated tin pot with a wooden lid.The smell is lovely.I have been using it for a couple of evening now - it says it will last for 40 hours and I can believe this will be true.

Looks pretty, smells lovely
These soy candles are good quality, with natural scent that fills a room beautifully. I didn't receive the item as described/shown, mine was a non-lidded one in a metallic matte decorated container, the scent was 'mountain forest'.That said, the container is pretty and the scent is really fresh.I think a 40 hour burn time is realistic, I've had mine going for probably at least 10 hours so far and I'm about a quarter of the way through it.The flame doesn't burn very bright but that's of no consequence. There is little to no smoke during and immediately after use which is good.It arrived in an arty card box so would make a nice gift.My reservation is that it is very expensive and I can't tell any difference in quality from a £10 soy candle I usually use. Except the container. But if you don't mind spending a bit more money on a good quality candle this is great.EDIT: it burned for probably just over 40 hours total, at a guess, but there was quite a lot of wastage. I've used some candles in tins that burn so well the container is totally clean at the end. With this, the flame kept extinguishing towards the end and then despite several attempts to relight it we had to give up. There was quite a lot of wax left, but it simply wouldn't stay lit. Not that impressive.
