Great for leveling a 3D printer bed and troubleshooting bed flatness problems!
The media could not be loaded. This review is for the AccuRemote Digital Indicator Gauge- product link below.I use this gauge to level the print bed in my 3D printer. I printed a clamp to hold it on the extruder carriage and wrote some gcode to move it around the bed and measure variations in surface flatness. It works great at room temperature and measurements are quite repeatable. It gets 4 stars instead of 5 because when the bed is hot, measurements are not very repeatable- I think that heat creeps up the probe and affects the readings- the numbers keep dropping the longer the probe is in contact with the bed. It comes in a very robust storage case with a spare battery. It has a USB port but there's no mention of it in the manual, and when I plug it into USB, all the display segments light up, so I don't think it can be used to capture measurement data.Video of the printer bed level test here: [...] AccuRemote 0-1"/0.0005" DIGITAL ELECTRONIC INDICATOR GAGE GAUGE w/ Absolute and Hold Functions Inch/Metric conversion

Not accurate enough for my use
My problem with this indicator is that it seems to have its own backlash. I was using it to minimize the backlash on the crossfeed of my lathe and I could not get it less than .006 in even when the feed was way too tight to actually use. Then I got an idea and used my analog indicator instead. Well, within a few minutes I had tuned the feed to 0015 in of backlash - a bit better than spec. Using the AccuRemote I could not get the same readings twice just rotating the feed handle 360 degrees from a zero backlash point.Btw, I was using a Noga DG10533 holder -- so the indicator was fully secure.

It seems accurate and easy to use with a magnetic clamp (sold separately)
I use this for my precision lathe. It seems accurate and easy to use with a magnetic clamp (sold separately). The tolerance feature is pretty useless. You are supposed to press the button when you want to set the tolerance, but try putting just .001" measurement on the dial, then press a button on the face. Impossible. Instead, I set the tool, then zero it. After that I can see the range of measurements and gauge the tolerance myself.

So I would only recommend if you have loose tolerances
The price is very attractive and the indicator repeats flawlessly. Although its repeats flawlessly, the values are off by .001" - .0015". I used a surface plate and tungsten-carbide gage blocks to inspect accuracy and my Brown & Sharpe mic to inspect the gage blocks. So I would only recommend if you have loose tolerances. I use mine if I have multiple parts at +/- .002 tolerance or to roughly inspect flatness. To be fair compared to well known name brands it is only a fraction of the cost, but you get what you pay for.- Anthony : Machinist, Tool and Die Maker, 27 years

Test ran here are results
Got indicator today and ran some tests on it to check accuracy and repeatability . .Using a rigid indicator setup and a black surface plate and a fowler economy grade 81 piece block set at 60* F (15*C).Block used Reading on indicator.05 .050.100 .0995.125 .125.150 .150.200 .1995.250 .250.500 .499.650 .6495.750 .74951.000 .999Repeatability varied +-.0005 so if you have a job with +-.005 or more this is a great deal but for something with say +-.005 or less I would look elsewhere.I gave it a five star because it is within its advertised tolerance.

Extremely accurate
The device is high quality but is finicky when trying to zero it. It usually takes a few attempts because it reads those action of pushing the button instead of waiting a fraction of a second before setting itself to zero. Not a huge problem but definitely annoying.

Great gauge indicator for 3D printers
This gauge indicator is perfect for 3D printers. I use it to level my build plate. You can even find some jigs made to hold these indicators on your specific printer for leveling your build plate. It comes with a nice rigid plastic case that holds the indicator, a mounting plate, manual, and battery. For the money I would recommend anyone needing one of these to get this one.

A very good value
I am a Mitutoyo supporter and if they would have offered a 0-1" travel indicator for anything near a reasonable price and the correct steam diameter I would have bought it. Yet I have been extremely surprised by how much this indicator offers for the price, really cannot go wrong with it. Only issue is the programmable function is not ABS so pressing the zero button wipes it out.
