Titanic: Disaster at Sea

I've been obsessed with the Titanic since I was a kid and have read probably dozens of books on It over the years.I decided to purchase this for my nephew's birthday, trying to do my part in getting the next generation obsessed with the Titanic. I expected it to be just another run of the mill Titanic kids book, filled with pictures, maybe a few random facts that anyone with more than a passing interest on the subject already knows, etc. As I flipped through it, I was blown away but how well written/designed and high quality this book is.First of all, the illustrations are excellent. The cover has a raised texture that I kept running my hand over. There was also a removable poster included in the back that I'm sure would be fun for kids (although I'm not sure if this is still included in each book).As for the content, as it's obviously geared toward younger readers, it's not a "heavy" read, but at the same time it's not lacking on information. It's split up into chapters, each covering a different topic related to the Titanic, and contains a mix of short facts as well as a chronological storyline. Despite the fact that I've read countless books, articles and sites related to the Titanic, even I found facts in here that I hadn't heard before! Even my nephew's mother, who doesn't have much interest in the topic, told me how she really enjoyed reading it with him.Whether you're thinking of purchasing this for a kid, adult or just for yourself, whether you have an obsession with the Titanic, just a passing interest, or even if you're just looking for a really cool coffee table book, I really can't recommend this one enough. I enjoyed the few minutes I spent flipping through it so much that I'm now planning to buy another copy for myself.

My 8 year old daughter and I spent an hour at the book store, rummaging through the various "kids" books on the Titanic disaster. This one is in a league of its own. The perfect blend of images (original and illustrations), graphics, and text made my kids (6 and 8) not want to put this down. GREAT book.

Though probably for the younger reader I love this book, full of information, great illustrations and artwork , the best 20 bucks I have spent in a long while.

We (my 8 year old boy and I) found it very interesting, with nice pictures and a good amount of reading. It does not need to be read all along since the beginning but you can jump from one topic to another one.It is a very good choice...
