Lava Rock Grill Stone Set, Gray

Went to a restaurant in Australia where we cooked steak, fish and scallops for about 30 min so I was pretty excited about getting one for myself. I cooked a 1" steak and a 4 shrimp. I followed instructions to heat rock at 450 degrees for 30 - 60 min. I used 45 min. Rock retained about 7 - 10 min (and I'm being generous) of cooking heat. Yes, the rock retained enough heat so as to not being able to handle by hand for about 30 minutes but I felt cooking temperature should have maintained for much longer. I will test again at heating 500 degrees for an hour with hopefully better results. A novelty item but give it a thorough testing (if not several) before having a dinner party.

We simply love the lava rock for grilling steaks. Every bite is hot and right off the grill, and we eat ours rare! My husband and I share one lava rock, and it stays hot the whole time through the meal. Need to try some other stuff, such as shrimp, pork, chicken, etc.

not really what I expected! I thought we could set around and cook some steak and shrimp, but I could never get the stone hot enough or keep it hot Disappointed!

One exploded but I reorderd my guest are still raving about them.

The lava rocks don't stay hot long enough to cook the entire meal. I heated the rocks longer than on the info and still they didn't stay hot long enough. I've eaten on Lava rocks before and they stayed hot as expected. I like them, but would not recommend them to anyone.

Bought two for my boyfriend for Christmas and he absolutely loves these rocks. He has used them at least four times so far in one month - for us, himself, and to entertain friends. Could not be happier with the purchase.

Worked great! Heated up in less than an hour and cooked every bite of steak right to the end.

Perfect mechanism for cooking steak. Does quite well with shrimp too!
