I never want to be without these again!
These things are bad-ass! Really impressed, with one of these and a torch lighter you can repair a wire at least as good as it originally was, maybe even better. The low temp solder melts straight away, the hot glue rings seal the insulation and it's 2:1 shrink factor seals the deal, literally! Very fast, very easy and good -- how often do you see that combo? To test it I took a foot of 18 ga wire, stripped the ends and stuck them into one of these splices, got it all melted and hrunk in about the same time ti takes to position and squeeze a crimper, with the added bonus of being able to see the wire inside of it. Then a friend and I each stuck a screwdriver in the loop, and pulled with both hands against the wire. Try that with a crimp splice! Then I stuck it in a cup of salt water for a week, and left it outside in the sun for another week, not even a hint of oxidation. I get that two weeks is not a thorough test, but it's surely very promising! I never want to be without these again!

A great product
I experimented with several of these connectors. I finally ended up with using a hotter, 1500 watt heat gun to get consistent results. The solder melts and the heat shrink tubing doesn't burn. I tried using this with a butane torch but I ended up burning the heat shrink tubing. My first heat gun I had, which was a 300 watt unit shrunk the heat shrink tubing but it took a while before it could melt the solder. The higher power, 1500 watt heat gun gave a quicker, consistent result. I can't even pull the wire apart with my hands. I think this product will pretty much offer good strength against pulls. I can't imagine having that much pressure exerted on joined wires. It would be crazy to use an electrical connection with than much pressure on the wire. I don't see vibration ever loosening this butt connection.

Works as expected if not better.
These work great. If you are in a situation where you don’t want to spend a bunch of time getting out the soldering tools , and the repair doesn’t need to be bullet proof then these are wonderful. I was stapling Christmas lights to the fence the other day and severed the cord. I was able fix it at the fence, with only one of these and a lighter. The only “Negative” is one that should be expected. The solder has a low heat melting point. Which means that if the joint is heated up significantly again along with enough tension the joint will break. I tested this with a vice and the line. It really doesn’t take a whole lot more heat then heat shrink takes. Perhaps about 5-10 seconds with the direct flame of a lighter on the solder. But if that heat is not reapplied Then you will have a long lasting joint. You won’t get the penetration in the joint that you would normally get with traditional solder. But I wouldn’t be concerned with the strength or quality of it in any way. A very handy and high quality tool to have. I definitely recommend.

These are nice enough. Too many smalls
The description is accurate, but this set has way too many small connectors. Even 18 gauge wires one prepared to solder require the blue connectors so the red ones can only be used for the very smallest (maybe 20; definitely 22 and smaller) gauge wire. The plastic used has a melting temp that must be just above the temp of the solder so it can be tricky to fully melt the solder without setting the plastic on fire. Having said that I really like this style connector and this is a cheap way to get a lot of them.

The best butt connectors money can buy
Man do I love these things. Highly recommended over typical butt connectors. These are much easier to use (only needing a heat gun), are more waterproof, and hold just as tightly as crimp connectors. My only complaint is the majority of them seem to be larger on one side to where a wire will fit nicely in one side but not the other. May have got a batch that was exposed to some heat since I didn't have a problem with an earlier set, but it seems to effect every one in the box here.

Very convenient with no crimping required
I was looking for a better way to wire up some electric hand warmers for my ATV that I use to plow snow.I didn't want to solder the wires and I hate regular "Butt" splices. I found these here on Amazon and bought them and have used them for a couple low voltage wiring jobs so far and they worked great. I also got a little bit more shrink tube to protect the connections a little better. What a neat invention. Just get a good heat gun and the low temp solder does the job and shrinks over the connection. I will buy more as needed. Very solid termination

Meh
nice idea, doesn't work with any repeatability or ease. Tried with a lighter, heat gun, soldering iron, mini torch... it either gets to hot to quick & the solder section outer layer burns thru before the solder melts. Or if your lucky enough to get a good solder joint, the ends that are supposed to seal to the wires burn of & disintegrate.Nice idea, crappy execution.

I will never connect wires with anything else again.
I used these to rewire the radio harness above and they worked fantastic. You can see the results above and they speak for them self. The first pictures was how the harness looked when I pulled it out. Standard electronic twist cable that had come undone and of course sounded like crap. Slip the plastic over one side of the wire, twist the wires together, pull tube over the twist, apply heat gun and you get an awesome waterproof seal. I will not use anything else. I get clean clear music and I know the harness is going to stay together perfectly.
