Everything I Know About Pirates

I love this book because it is very informative. It has tons of details and even the illustrations are captioned with funny quips. It is long, so it's pretty much more than a bedtime read for preschoolers or young school kids. I am working on getting through it with my five-year-old niece and nephew. I am planning a pirate-themed surprise treasure hunt for them this summer so I want to get them all prepared for what to expect and to get excited about! It is even giving me ideas about the costume pieces I will have ready for them to wear for the hunt. This is the quintessential encyclopedia of whimsical pirate facts book that you should have. I ordered several others that were more story oriented and kept one of those, and this book, you know, for research. Highly recommend!

I bought this book as a joke for my husband who loves dressing up like a pirate for costume parties, so he could be more informed. It's hilarious and very entertaining! The illustrations are great too. The book answers all the questions you and your kids have about pirates. We enjoyed the book so much we bought another copy of it for a child we know and he loved it too. I would definitely recommend this book for both adults and children and guarantee you will laugh out loud when reading it.

The story is great and very very cute but when the book arrived, the back cover was torn!!! As in torn completely, all the way across to the spine. I'd order it for my grandson who was having a Pirate-themed birthday party so there was no time to return for a new one and since the story was so cute I kept it rather than return. I'm pretty annoyed that they sent a ripped book!

Everything child I have given this book to loves it. I usually ads a small muslin bag. That I "dirty" by rubbing it with a brown stamp pad. I add their name to the bag with a sharply up pen and add some pirate booty (gold dollar coins ~ask for them at the bank). A map can be made on a paper bag (backyard, beach or campground. Be sure to crumple the map.

This book has been read at least 100 times, and it never gets old. If you have a young tot who has even the slightest interest in pirates, this charming book will immediately become a favorite. It details a young boy's thrill at his chance to go live as a pirate, but quickly discovers that maybe it's not it's cracked up to be. The illustrations are detailed and hilarious, which makes this an excellent read-to-me book.

This book is both informative and exceptionally cleaver! Even though some vocabulary is a little high, my Kindergarten class LOVED it and understood its content. It made a great base for our end of the year, Pirate Day activities. I have also used it for Pirate themed units with 2nd and 3rd grade students, as an introduction to the theme. Kids LOVE this book for its humorous play between text and artistry. I highly recommend.

My nephew loves this book! It's not unusual for him to like reading, but it is unusual for him to laugh so much and carry it with him to share with friends and family and make them laugh. Good stuff!

It was a present but had a little read and looked fun. Recipient loved it. Great illistrations inside and I particulrly liked the witty style it was written.
