Missleading, Incomplete, Rambles & Unusable for a Novice
If all you want is a small figure 8 with out the need for crossover or turnouts this is useable. This is not for the faint of heart. You have to be a carpenter with 6-700 dollars worth of Power, special (Grade Gauge etc.) AND Hand tools prior to purchasing the required lumber '+' extra as you are going to make mistakes. The title of this is plural " Table'S' for your Train'S'!" NOT - A Table for your Train! NOT - A SMALL Figure '8' for your DC train. On top of that this is a $12.00 brochure NOT a "Paperback" of 20 pages including the front and back cover! This is a total - lets just say I am not a Happy Camper! There is nothing EASY MODELING RAILROADING about this!! This is a total BUST! No pictures of the final product? WHY, Instruction on how to fabricate a flat 4x8' table that no one needs instructions to erect. The built 'L' Girder table is a level 5 on a scale of 1-5 and any individual of a '5' expertise is not working with 4x8'. The Cover depicts what appears as an HO Straight into a Curve with a Burlington GP-30 hauling a freight train on a considerably larger than a 4x8' flat platform. An individual with a measuring device, marking with a pencil a previously constructed flat table leg support. A rendering of the 'L' Girder that never emerges as a layout. The picture of the SP freight snaking through the country side is nice but has "0" ZERO bearing on the project at hand. The 2 very small photos of the fascia indicate quite large mountainous scenery, again not of this project. Five pages devoted to the 'L' Girder TABLE basic(again No finished scheme)with no guidance for rail loop diameter or minimal measurements of any sort and then goes of to making additions and changes. There is more but I believe this is sufficient, Two Stars is a gift!

Excellent ideas and illustrations
My wife will kill me if I ever start another train layout. Of course if I'd had this book with great ideas and solutions to design and build a layout, I might have actually finished one. Full of techniques and illustrations.

Wish it was more descriptive
I wish this book was more descriptive about how to actually make the top part for putting the track onto it. It describes how to put certain tables together is all but not much help on the track layout it shows on the cover. Kinda misleading.

Easy Model Railroading
Good book for the real novice, although the author assumed that you have experience using wood tools and measurements. I am going to give it a try.
