Structura 2

Envio Satisfactorio.

Not what I was expecting...
Well...This book wasn't what I expected. Now, talking about the book.In my opinion, this book repeats the same flaws of the first one.The pages should be larger as well as the images. Some of the artwork were scaled down to very minimum sizes (like 2 or 3 inches), and I'm talking about most of the artwork. And in my opinion, it's very bad to see a concept art in the size of a social network avatar. It looks like they tried to stuff all the sci-fi works of Sparth in a little space just to say it is there in the book.I would prefer if there was half of the pictures, but in bigger sizes. And there's a LOT of blank spaces in the pages. These spaces could be filled with texts explaining about the concept art, like most (or ALL) of the art books out there. Now, I have to talk about the content.I was expecting a great variet of works, and not only sci-fi dark environments with a spaceship in the center.I'm sure Sparth doesn't have only this kind of work and it's really boring to see more than 200 pages of only this.I see some different art in the book, but they are really really scaled down.If you are looking for references for creating sci-fi stuff, this book may help you, but you won't find interiors, weapons, characters, and anything but open dark environments.I'm a very disappointed.

A panoramic of fantastic futures.
This is a good book. Well printed and fast to read. My favorite work is "Hoovering Postmen"The art is futuristic, militar ships and buildings (as I guess for the lack of windows) that are fortress.Said that although the art is perfect I cannot avoid to feel a certain distance, usually art try to express something and although the drawings are great and perfect mostly I don't feel in them expression but more technical experimentation. So the four star rating.

A great art book to have in your collection!
I love conceptual art books that have a sci-fi theme. The images just make my mind wander and think of all kinds of stuff that's hard to describe. I have seen the work of Sparth before though I didn't know who he was, his signature style made an impression upon me. He definitely inspires as his friend says in the foreword. This book is a real pleasure for me to browse through and simply admire. Defintely worth having if you simply enjoy art of any kind.

Great book! Sparth does it again
With 33 pages more than the first "Structura" artbook, this second collection of Nicolas "Sparth" Bouvier's works amazes the concept art enthusiast yet again. As with the last book we are presented mostly with landscapes, spacescapes and spaceships, therefore it's not the best deal for fans of character, creature and/or normal vehicle design let's say. But for those who like this type of subjects, and especially for Sparth fans, this is certainly a "must have".In terms of book quality and design you can expect the same well-bound, sleek looking pages type of binding and printing, with the same simple yet stylish interior design, perfect for this type of subject. Great book to have if you're a concept design fan and especially a Bouvier fan like myself!

Fantastic book
Sparth does what he does best, and arguably does it better in this book than the last. The addition of the tutorials in this one is a great feature i was glad to see. I dabble a bit in digital painting and it was interesting seeing how he sets these masterpieces up.As far as the book itself, it's chock full of fantastic work. I absolutely feel like i got my money's worth. He's the best there is at what he does and this book showcases it quite well. I highly recommend picking it up.

great addition to my library
Sparth's art is so inspiring and this second edition to his collection of works is awesome. Not only is the art great, but the design of the book is clean and well thought out. Being an artist myself, the design of the book is just as important as the work that it has, and a lot of art books aren't designed very well, but this one does a great job of showcasing the art and not let the secondary stuff clutter or distract from it. I love it.

A brilliant artist
There are only a handful of artists that I follow with any consistency. Sparth is one of them. Viewing any of his pieces, I find myself immersed in his worlds and never wanting to leave. Only to glance over at the next piece, and drifting into that world for an untold amount of time. As a fellow artist, I dream of creating pieces as engaging and moving as Sparth's. Enjoy.

More visionary artwork from a digital master.
This second volume of Sparth`s digital artwork is, if anything, even more impressive than his first.Sparth, AKA Nicolas Bouvier, is a well-known and considerably respected concept artist working in the games world; he is equally well-known for his cover-art illustrations of sci-fi/fantasy novels.Structura 2, like its predecessor is a fine, well considered showcase of entirely new material, some 30 pages or so bigger than volume one and this time containing a chapter consisting of four step-by-step demonstrations showing how he puts his digital images together. There is no in-depth technical information about the software used - he appears to use a combination of Photoshop and Alchemy software - but the illustrations alone are both impressive and helpful. There is also a section of his more experimental work using Alchemy; linear sketches, experiments with geometric composition, etc. Those familiar with his work will know what to expect as all his major themes are covered here - wonderfully rendered spaceships in dark, futuristic worlds, expansive alien vistas, fantastical medieval landscapes - together with illustration work for projects like the Dune novels and Halo. The format, like volume one, is a good combination of multiple and full-page images - copiously illustrated considering the book's modest dimensions.Another beautifully presented, inspiring portfolio of a remarkable digital artist and an easy recommendation to make; grab it while you can while the prices are still reasonable.

One of the finest concept artists
Simply one of finest and innovative concept artists in the business. The style Sparth and his colleagues have created is unique, invariably imitated but never to this standard. Of course the art is fantastic, one would run out of superlatives. There is also a chapter showing a few process steps which only serves to make you wish he would make a lengthy video tutorial one of these days. Most art books are of a larger size, this one is maybe just over 20cm like the first book. I would've preferred a larger book, so that's my reasoning for not giving this book the full five stars.

Great art
I only recently came across Sparth (Nicolas Bouvier) when working with shapes in Photoshop. Serached for shapes on youtube and up popped Sparth. What a great find - and a very talented artist. His bright colors and incredible artwork makes for an enjoyable experience. Also bought Structura 3 - which is even more amazing. Structura 2 is a very nice book. Buy it! You will not be disappointed.

Stunning
As a concept artist myself I can't get enough of this guy. The images look so simple to create at times but this is just an illusion. He makes use of simple brush strokes to create amazing impact and drama which is really hard to replicate. This is essential eye candy!

Amazing
Following on from Strucutra this is another fantastic book filled with beautiful paintings by an extremely talented artist. This book also contains the steps that the artist took to make his key pieces which in my opinion makes this book even better than the first one.
