Smartwool convert here!
This is an initial impression review on my first week of use for both the midweight top and bottoms size large. I am 6’3” 200lbs, 38 inch waist.I have used Smartwool undergarments exclusively for the past five years after first trying many other brands that I ended up not being too fond of. It seems that recently they have changed their manufacturing process, and the last pair of long underwear I purchased was nowhere near as soft and comfortable as the former pairs. It was so scratchy and annoying I had to finally return them.Enter Woolx: I decided to give these long underwear a go after reading through all the positive reviews. First off, the top and bottom are each $20 cheaper than the Smartwool garments in the same midweight fabric. Score! These are supremely comfortable right out of the box. They feel heavy and well made, and cling nicely to my frame without being constricting at all. They also have an extra few inches of length in the sleeves and legs which is greatly appreciated. I can move my arms and legs throughout my entire range of motion without the cuffs riding up on me. The cuffs are also of an extended length and supremely comfortable. The neckline is soft, isn’t too large, and I actually like the uncovered elastic waistband on the bottoms. My Smartwool bottoms used a covered waistband which led to a lot more movement. Movement = untucked top = cold. These also have great temp regulating and wicking properties, as merino is known for. If I start to work up a sweat I’ll just chill out for a bit and the moisture will transfer to the woolx and I’ll be dry again. Warmth even when wet is another known benefit of wool. I may end up getting one of the light weight tops as a base layer under this if I know I’ll be working heavily. After a week of wearing these as a base layer under my winter coveralls in 20-30 degree weather for 7 hours a day, I can say I am very pleased and glad I made the step away from my old brand. I’ve stayed warm and comfy throughout my workdays.Wash infrequently inside out, always hang dry, and I’m hoping these will last quite awhile. Longevity is the next question, and will be reviewed again down the road.

Like wearing a 3 layer cotton t-shirt but better
I've bought the Midweight Top and Midweight Bottom Leggings. And this does the job nicely for 30 degree East Coast Winter wearing a fleece jacket with it. But in the low 20's and below a heavy weight would be better. It does a wonderful job in retaining body heat in the cold and it's breathable enough to not make you sweat while indoors. I haven't noticed any odor staying after lightly sweating in this. The material seems durable in quality, but we'll see after how many washes this thing lasts. I'm only knocking 1 star off for the price. It's a bit over-priced.**2018 Jan 1st UPDATE** So the weather here in the East hit a low 20 degrees, feeling like 14 degrees and now I wish I got the heavy weight for sure. I guess the pros about the medium weight is its thinner and wont add bulk to your clothing underneath, and going indoors with it on won't make you sweat as much. But if you truly want something to tackle the cold in the low 20s and teen degrees, I'd go for the heavy weight. I'm also a very tall, slim type of person and the fit was slightly loose but almost tight fitting. The shirt was longer vertically in length than the usual shirts that cut off just around the mid pelvis level, good for people with long torsos. There's a small silver embroidered WoolX logo on one of the sleeve end that I despise also, but it's easily hidden inside a jacket.

Warm, comfortable and breathable base layer
I love this wool baselayer top! I had been training for the Marine Corps Marathon all spring, summer and fall and am used to running in warm temperatures. I don't mind the cold, but I don't like to be cold! So when the temps showed the marathon would start with a temperature of 45-47 and maybe top out at 52-55 I decided I needed an extra layer of warmth and protection under my dri-fit running shirt. My normal running mornings at the lowest would have been a 59-degree start so the mid 40's was a bit much for me. So I bought this shirt and wore it the whole race. It performed beautifully, keeping me warm, wicking away sweat and working as a breathable base layer that didn't suffocate me.I had only worn this once before the race for a 3-mile trial run and washed it before the race. After 26 miles of running there was no chaffing or itching anywhere and I was one very content, cozy warm runner.I found this shirt to be true to size as I am 6 feet tall, 175 lbs. and wear a medium. I also ordered the lightweight version of this shirt but ordered one size down (Small) (from reading other reviews) and it fit me perfectly too. I thought I'd see which one I preferred on race morning and the midweight was the shirt of choice. It turned out to be the right one.

Good for a tall slim guy
Excellent shirt. It feels great, is not at all "itchy." As other reviewers have noted, it's fairly thick (though it's probably still fair to call it midweight). It is incredibly comfortable and regulates temperature well. And of course, it doesn't get stinky. I'm considering getting a second in another color.Tall slim guys, this could be a great shirt for you: I'm 6'5" and 200 lbs so I'm tall and slim and I have it in Large. I'm blessed that even at 43 I have no gut and accordingly this shirt fits me well: it's slim without being tight. For me, it makes a great casual shirt as I don't mind wearing a slim shirt as a casual shirt, but some prefer casual shirts to be looser so note that if you want a looser fit, you might want to size up (I also tried XL but found it to be bigger in the body than I would like). I would like this to be a little longer in both the body and the sleeves, but it's long enough. Note that you should not take this review as an endorsement of WoolX overall for tall slim guys: I tried another WoolX long-sleeve shirt and it was way too short in the sleeves.
