Hard to dissolve, tastes strong in sweetener but it is very tasty
The sweetener taste is quite strong, which makes me think it isn’t too healthy. But it’s so tasty that I don’t want to discontinue from drinking everyday. The main problem is that it isn’t the easiest to dissolve.

Get the flavoured versions!
I do quite a bit of exercise but find eating enough protein is difficult so often have a protein bar to top up.I have tried whey based drinks in the past but have never been a fan of either flavour or the flatulence.Like some of the whey bases drinks I’ve tried in the past, this offering from Golden Source is in the form of a fine powder, a 25g scope giving you a 14g hit of protein. It is a bit of a sod to mix, you really need a good blender and I mix with 250 - 300ml of water, a bit of banana helps the results along and I use chilled water.I would describe the taste as unpleasant rather than delicious, perhaps this natural variant is a step too far for me, but at least the ingredients are wholesome and the cocoa version is better.I did try adding some to muesli, I won’t be repeating that exercise in a hurry as it formed a texture akin to lumpy plaster. There are 18 portions in a pack, so over a £1 per portion. Not convinced, I will stick to my bars, more expensive but less faff and more protein.

Great for protein chocolate brownies
Golden Source Proteins Organic Plant-based Protein Powder - CacaoThis is really good quality protein powder - and, as a personal trainer, I've tried numerous ones. Being plant-based protein powder, you either need to take a larger portion (go through the pack more quickly) or have a lower dose of protein, because plant-based protein powders have a lower protein content than ones containing whey. However, this one is really tasty and doesn't upset my tummy at all (as some protein powders can) and is great in my chocolate protein brownies.=== THINGS I LIKE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT* Makes a fantastically rich protein brownie* Not overly sweet, meaning you can adjust the sweetness level to taste* Does not contain artificial sweeteners, so there's no aftertaste* The flavour is rich but not overpowering* In a protein shake, it blends reasonably well with no chunks and in a smoothie it blends really well* The protein base is half and half raw pea protein and sprouted & fermented brown rice protein* (32%)=== NIGGLES ===* Contains only 14g protein per serving, which is much less than whey-based proten powders (usually around 25g per serving)* Although it contains no artifiial sweetener, it does contain a sweetener - Stevia extract - which is still a chemical, just one that's derived from a plant* It also contains "natural flavourings", a defined term which means a type of chemical produced in a factory* I don't know exactly what the benefits are of all the other plants and plant extracts that are added to this powder* Tastes a little chalkyAt the time of writing this review, no price is listed so I am unable to comment on value for money, cost per serving or position in the market.

TASTES GOOD...
I am currently trying to lose weight and wanted something to provide me with daily protein to replace a meal. This seemed ideal, and I am pleased to say it tastes rather nice. I use one full scoop ( scoop provided) in about 400ml of water, mixed in a shaker. The result is a nice, tasty drink that I felt filled me up sufficiently.I think this product is really aimed at those who work out and need that extra protein. Reading some reviews on here, the general consensus seems to be that it is an expensive product with less protein content than expected. I would tend to agree that the price is a little steep. I only intend to use this in the short term, so this would not be an issue for me. However, it is true that there is other products on the market that cost less and provide more. I guess it depends on what you want this powder for. There does not seem to be anything too harmful in the ingredients, though there is a sweetener mentioned, and whilst being better than sugar, can still spike your insulin levels. I am following a low-carb diet and although this contains over 25% carb the actual amount you would consume during a normal serving falls within an acceptable range.Like everything, the usefulness of a supplement like this is relative to how you use it. Only recommendation I can give is to look around to see what suits your own particular needs....

A convenient meal replacement
I've been having this daily for over a week now, in place of lunch at work, and I've found it to be really convenient option. I simply put a scoop into my water bottle/shaker, fill it with water (around 250ml), give it a good shake and that's it. It mixes well, but tends to need a slight swish when you've got about 1/3 left, to avoid any silty build up at the bottom.Taste-wise I think it's absolutely fine, the Blueberry Acai and Coffee varieties have been my favourites so far, but they've all been pleasant in their own way.I'm not remotely into health foods or vegetarianism, but I am very bored of usual 'office' lunches and tend to circulate between sandwiches, noodles and soups, at significant cost and without much pleasure. This is a cost-effective alternative, which lets me get on with other things during my break, and keeps me filled until at least late afternoon. It's the first 'meal replacement' powder I've tried, but I've long been intrigued by the likes of Huel and Soylent. This is very much along the same lines, but without the Silicon Valley-esque lifestyle up-sell. The Golden Source just does what it says it'll do, without the marketing nonsense. It's not a daunting thing whatsoever, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone curious as I was.
