Throwback (60048) The Big Freeze Hawaiian Ice Shaver & Snow Cone Maker, Chrome & Silver

Our family has had this snow cone maker for a couple of months and it is the best thing that has happened to us. We use it every day and it is extremely reliable. The ice is very thin and exactly the reason we bought it. It is my favorite purchase from amazon EVER. Highly recommend, yes it is loud, but it is worth it.

It's a decent machine for what it's intended to do - crush ice for snow cones. There's some mention about this working for frozen drinks, though that is to me a bit of a stretch. A slushie, perhaps, but the ice grind is a bit too coarse for, say, a frozen margarita.That said, the machine itself works very well. The machine does have a plastic body, so while it has that stainless "look" it's in reality a little different. The machine itself does weigh a bit on the heavy side though, AND using it is a bit loud. OK, fairly loud. Fine, it's loud, OK?There is plenty of power here to do a very good job with ice, in fact it is probably the surest such machine that I've used. I will say that it WILL create a mess if you try to grind the ice directly into a cone or cup. Use a (small) mixing bowl, grind the ice into that, and then scoop from the bowl into the cone or cup. It does hold a good amount of ice and grinds it away very quickly...so really, for a kids party this is a pretty popular thing to have on standby.For snow cones. Or slushies, maybe.Again, trying to adapt this to make frozen drinks, like margaritas or daquiris, is going to be a frustrating pursuit, because to my palate the ice just isn't fine enough. What I ended up with was a Margarita Snow Cone which, while delicious, wasn't quite what I was looking for. This said, when I operated within the machine's design purpose it worked magnificently. So I guess I wish there were more versatility but on balance...I like it.

Works very fast and the ice is definitely turned to snow. Safety features are great which is also reason hard to clean. This machine is very loud. The spout that shoots the ice cannot be adjusted to fill a container the container ( I used a 4 cup Pyrex measuring cup) must adjust to the spout and it shoots outward not downward.

Wish area where ice comes out was just a little taller. Otherwise I really like this machine

This machine is worth the price. At our house we use it every night. It works better than advertised.
