The Base Station, normally located in the house, alarms when a Turtle wearer falls in the water. Alarming at the same Base Station is also triggered by the opening of any censored gate, immediately if the adult pass switch is not activated, or within 11 seconds if the gate is not closed again. Any number of Turtles and gate sensors of the same color work with one Base Station. The Base Station includes required AC wall adaptor. Review: Good for what it does - As a water detection device this works great. Unfortunately that means it goes off anytime it gets slightly wet like when my son is washing his hands. It also takes a very long time to dry and the alarm is incredibly loud, so it seems to be unplugged most of the day waiting for it to dry which defeats the purpose of having it. But while it is on and he's wearing it I do feel safer when he is anywhere near the pool. Review: Provides more peace of mind - My boyfriend and I bought a house with a pool a few months ago. One of my Maltese dogs, George, walked right into the pool because he'd never been near a pool before. I was able to get him out quickly that time. After that, I assumed he learned to stay away from it. (Bad decision on my part.) Well, recently I went out back to shush the other dogs from barking (we have doggie doors), and George was in the pool. Maltese are not good swimmers, and he was barely afloat by the time I got to the pool. I almost lost my little guy. So, I quickly began my search for a solution, and fencing in the pool itself is way out of budget. I was contemplating getting those alarms that go off with the breaking of the surface of the water, but we have an automatic pool skimmer, which would set it off regularly. I bought this base station and the pool sensor with Velcro strap (sold separately) to tie to the dog's collar. I tested it with a small glass of water, and the alarm sounded immediately! The sensor is also lightweight. I was afraid the sensor might have been to heavy for my dog's neck, but it is not. Testing for the sensor battery is done from a button on the base. The sensor comes with a color-coded mini-turtle that plugs into the base. All other sensors need to be of the same color for them to register on the same base, so if I buy additional sensors, I'll be sure to get them the same color as this one. I work from home, so this is an excellent solution for me. I realize that I cannot be home 100% of the time to monitor if George falls in the pool, but it greatly reduces the chances of a fatal accident for those times I am home. The B102 Base Station does not work with the Safety Turtle 2.0 Wristbands. The Wristbands that worked with the B102 Base Station have a limited life due to an unchangeable battery. You can no longer purchase wristbands that work with the B102 Base Station so once your original wristbands are past the suggested battery life... your B102 Base Station is useless. Safety Turtle changed the wristbands/Base Station with Safety Turtle 2.0 but appear to have left previous customers out in the cold by not making the new wristbands backwards compatible with the B102 Base Station and by not continuing to offer the original wristbands.
