Excellent value switch with stable POE output.
I purchased this POE switch to run a home surveillance system, after an existing controller died. The goal was use standalone capable cameras, with a single port, multi-channel controller. This POE switch turned out to be an incredible value. I did not expect the construction quality to be so high. It has a heft that was surprising, indicating that a lot of copper is used for the power supply, and the power output is stable. I used all 8 ports to run POE cameras, and they work great. The ports might only be 100 MB, but my cameras had not problem negotiating the connection, and everything works great. It is truly surprising to have such a high quality build, with a fiber link port at this price point. I am extremely happy with the switch, and am already recommending it to my colleagues for home LAN use.

Works great!
If you can plug an Ethernet cable into a port, you'll be able to install and get this switch working. After years of running everything off of a WIFI signal, I decided to swap as many devices to be hard wired to the network. If you are transferring big data (music, videos, photos... etc.) to your devices, do yourself a favor and do it over a cable if you can. Data over a cable is going to be much faster. If you are dealing with big files, this can have a big impact on your ability to do so without waiting for things to buffer.

Great low cost 8 port (all PoE) switch
I was needing a poe switch that had poe over all 8 ports. Most of the lower cost 8 port poe switches only do poe on 4 of them (which is what I had before this switch and now I need more poe for cameras). So I found this one at a good price that still gave out poe on all 8 ports. I also like this one over others because it has the "9th" uplink port and the NVR port. At first I didn't think I would like that because it reminded me of the old hubs that had a dedicated uplink port and it had to be used only for that. However when I thought about this more it meant I really had a 9 port switch since all other 8 port switches I would have had to use one of them as the uplink to my router and on this one I didn't have to which meant I could use all 8 for the poe function which was a big plus in my book.
