Bulky Sous Vide, but great
*** Update to this review -- My unit started making a clicking noise when running the circulator. It was previously very quiet. Today when I was using the unit my circulator stopped moving the water altogether. My unit overheated and shut off. I took the unit out and let the water drain from the bottom and tried to contact the company for a return.Problem #1: The box lists "Warranty 18 months" but does not give a single instruction on returns, contacting the company or any other information about the warranty in the manual.Problem #2: I contacted SquareTrade about returning the unit. They say it is within the warranty period and I must request help from the manufacturer.Problem #3: Searching Google for the company contact information only returns the amazon seller as the only link online for contacting the seller.Problem #4: Amazon's Contact this seller does not have any option to contact them about warranty return issues. Is the seller even the manufacturer? I don't know. I am trying to get this resolved through the proper channel, but seem to be blocked in all avenues.I started packing up the unit to try to return it and water POURED out of the top of the unit. My unit has NOT been submerged and had not gotten wet. I have no idea why the electronics area had gotten wet at all. I can only think the motor clicking / failure had something to do with the ultimate demise of this equipment.**********I purchased this to replace my failed Anova Sous Vide (steam from the cook had shorted out the electronics of the Anova). This unit was more powerful so I thought I'd give it a try.I love the extra wattage compared with my other unit. The water heats up quickly and maintains the temperature very well.I do have a few comments when comparing with the Anova wand cooker that I used before:1. This unit is square and bulky. In the same pot that I used for cooking, this unit takes up nearly 1/2 of the available space for cooking. I had to move to a larger cooking utensil (using the plastic bin right now).2. This unit shuts off at the end of the time. This is dangerous for me as I would leave my cook for a longer time than necessary. When I came back to a 24 hour cook at 30 hours and find the unit off and temp down to 100 deg F I was quite disappointed. Fix for this is to just set the timer to the max time and set a timer on an external device.3. The "max fill line" is pretty low compared to my other units. I have to reserve about 2 inches at the top of my bin just so I don't exceed the max fill. This reduces the amount of food I can cook because of angling the bags to keep them submerged. I can't stack steaks vertically in my pot rack anymore because the top of the steaks sticks over the surface of the water. I'm considering how to solve this by making the unit sit higher so I can add more water.4. The unit is not able to be disassembled for cleaning. I cook eggs in the shell and sometimes they crack and release a bit of egg white into the water. Or a bag leaks and taints the water with juices. I'd like to be able to make sure the unit is clean but can't get inside.5. Setting a specific temp is no-frills but sometimes a lot of clicks. Changing from one temp to another, the first press and hold moves up by .1 deg. Then starts jumping by one degree and moves quickly. I let go around the temp I want, but end up having to tap the "+" button for a few degrees to get it right. That means hitting the + key 10 times per degree. 146.1, 146.2, 146.3....148.9, to finally 149. If I'm 3 degrees off that is 30 presses of "+". The Anova had a dial to spin which seemed a little easier to set a specific temperature.6. The Anova struggled with some of my large-gallon cooks. This unit doesn't seem to have any trouble keeping the water at temp. I haven't cut a new hole in my 6-gallon cooler for this unit, but insulating your water seems to be key for any Sous Vide unit.In all I've been very happy with this unit. The points I mentioned are minor and I can work around them.

Opened whole new areas of cooking recipies
This one is A Great Product for a Sous Vide cooker. And, a perfect completion of your sous vide setup. This one is also very powerful as we expect from its size. I have cooked everything I could think in the last couple of weeks. Once you tried, you'll get addicted! The first meal I cooked was a rib-eye. The device itself is straightforward to use and very precise. Very easy to use and held temperature precicely which I've verified with a thermal couple.

Quit working after 3rd use
After my Anova sous vide quit working after 3 years, I decided to try this model. I liked the fact that it was 1100 watts compared to the 800 from Anova. It heated the water much faster when it did work. I used it twice for a hour each to cook chicken & steak and the last use was for 48 hours to cook baby back ribs. All 3 it worked flawlessly and to perfection. When I went to use it the next time it would not heat the water above room temperature. There is no trouble shooting guide that came with the manual or any contact information. After calling Amazon and going through their troubleshooting I was informed to email the vendor direct and would receive a response with in 24 hours. It has been 3 days and I have not received squat. Today I ordered a replacement and will send the faulty unit back. I will update this review after a few usages of the new unit. Maybe I got a bad unit as sometimes that happens and I'm hoping this is the case. They could have a more thorough manual with contact information.

Breaks very easy!
It broke after the first day! I plugged it back in to the wall circuit, but the machine would not turn on anymore! I would go to a different outlet and same thing happened! It worked great when I got it, but I guess it was a one time use!

Cheap Parts, Broke Within a Month
We bought this circulator for light daily use in our restaurant because it was advertised as more powerful than the Anova model we were replacing (after 4 years of use) while being about the same price. While it looks great coming out of the box, the circulator started to show signs of wear and tear within two weeks. Specifically, the decals that indicate where the touch screen buttons are located began to wear off. After less than a month, there was literally no way to see where the buttons were, you had to know where to aim from memory. After another week or so, the machine completely failed when the circulator fan snapped its cheap plastic housing and blew out the motor. Would not recommend this device to anyone.

TOO BIG!
I just got this unit and I haven't cooked anything with it yet but it will probably go back. IT IS HUGE! And you need a VERY tall pot, 11 inches or more. Additionally, the water intake is on the bottom and unless you have a very tall pot the unit sits on its bottom rather than hang on the side of the pot which means the water intake won't be able to suck in water. As you can see in the picture, mine is sitting in a 12 quart pot and it isn't even half way deep enough to allow the cooker to hang from the side.Very dumb design.

Fantastic cooker
This is the first time of me to use an item which is not produced in round shape to cook food. In general, it is a good item to purchase. The item is easy to use to cook foods. I used it to cook spicy meat, porridge and some others. It is easy to control the temp and time. We can leave it to cook foods alone and work on other items. The panel instruction is easy to read and learn. Moreover, it is east to clean after cooking.

HUGE!
Lets talk about Pros about this thing, its great value! because is HUGE! and heavy, you pay what you get in weight! it can double as a dumbell, or weapon, if you shine it enough, perhaps it can be a 4 sides mirror! and pretty sure when you divorce you will have something lift that your future ex wont take away. But I have enough junk at home, including myself, so i dont even bother testing it, return in original package. So I can still have enough space to stay in the house, so i dont have to throw myself away. ;)

Great sous vide cooker for beginners!
This is a great product to do sous vide for the amateur of which I am one. It is quite bulky compared to other similar items available, but the price is right. It retains temperature within half a degree and I have successfully done steaks, Burgers, chicken and many other things. I feel this is a good device to cut your teeth on as it doesn't cost a lot.

Works well
This is my first foray into sous vide cooking and so far, so good. It did a wonderful job of a whole chicken, salmon pieces and beans. It is great to get $50.00 off too!It is easy to set the temperature and the machine works quietly and efficiently.
