Focused mainly for the Christian coach, but if you're not, still pick it up and use it. You will benefit by it! The principles are universal and will help anybody develop and grow as a coach and help them coach with significance, it's just supported by scripture. Every coach needs to know their "why". If you don't know yours or have never written it out and have a game plan to put it into action, this book is a great tool to help you do that. If you are an experienced coach, it's a great tool to help you mentor young coaches. No fluff here, just a simple, straight forward tool to help you become a more effective, impactful coach. It is baseline stuff for all coaches!

This book is for both new and existing coaches wanting a "how to" on having an impact on and being purposeful in the life of a player. The questions and workbook format makes it a must have. The principles outlined in this book can be applied to my line of work and can benefit to all Leaders who want to have an impact. I've been blessed with many great coaches in my life, but none more impactful to my Christian walk than Coach Roy. As a former player for Coach Roy, I can truly say that he is a Shepherd Coach.

Great book! Very easy to read yet it makes you look at yourself and at the impact you can/should have on those you coach. In a win at all cost world it really brings us back to the roots of a coaches heart.

We liked the workbook format because it went beyond just theory and concepts to creating a personal application of the strategies.

There is an elementary difference between doing and being. There are a lot of books in the world of baseball about to learn a particular technique or to coach baseball players. In this coaching book by Tom Roy, however, it's not about learning a certain technique as a coach, but about working on your personality as a coach - an aspect that is only marginally addressed in many other books.In that sense, the goal of the book is not to read and learn a certain content, but to work on your personalitiy by many questions (and sometimes the right question could be more important than an answer).Already the first pages show that Tom Roy as conscious Christian, develops his impulses for a coach-personality on the background of the bible. Therefore, this book is primarily addressed to coaches who are asking themselves how their Christian faith can impact their work as a coach. But just as we elsewhere in our society like to take inspiration from other worldviews and philosophies, if they help us to improve ourselves, this book can also give many helpful tips to coaches who do not consider themselves as a Christian. Especially in working with children and young people, it often comes down to very different aspects than the purely baseball technical. Tom Roy is a specialist on this field, as evidenced by his many years as an international coach and missionary.Those who find the courage to work with this book will change themselves on and off the field of dreams.

This book is a must for any and all coaches. It does not matter what level....from the parent who is coaching for the first time with their son or daughter, the high school coach or even the seasoned veteran college coach....this book’s value is vital! For some, it will be like renewing your wedding vows....reminding you why you are doing what you are doing!
