Great Album
Brilliant Album, unfortunately can't get it to play on my X-box 360, And the track listings are mixed up. But that's nothing to do with the sale. The album can easily be one of Chthonic's best.

Rip Roaring
This is symphonic black metal along the lines of Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir. The band are from Taiwan which influences the music greatly bringing a strong oriental feel to the songs. There is use of traditional instruments and the lyrics are based in Taiwanese folklore reflecting a tragic period in the countries history. The songs sound vast with excellent interplay between the female and male vocals. Chthonic take you on a journey.Love this CD

This album is great!
Every Chthonic fan knows this album is one of their bests and it's defiantly a good album to start out with if you're new to this band. I keep seeing some reviews mentioning they are "Chinese" but they are Taiwanese. The English version of this album contains three different videos on the cd and sometimes when you load it up on a PC it'll play the videos first or vice versa and doesn't give you option if you want videos or just the music, it's a little annoying but can be easily fixed. But the video of Bloody Gaya fulfilled is a clip from their DVD "A decade on the throne" So it's nice they give you a tiny sample of their awesome concert with the album. The other live video isn't from the dvd it's just some random live performance they recorded and put on it.

One of the best albums this year!
This is up their as one of the best albums Ive heard this year, only behind Wisdom In Chains "Class War" album. Im so glad these guys are still doing their thing. One of the best black metal type albums Ive heard, probably the best. I think these guys are far better than Cradle and even better than Dimmu Borgir. From start to end its great! Like others are saying, this album is simply beautiful, very melodic. Uses a good blend of the female backup vocals keyboards and the asian violin (I forget what its called). Best songs are Progeny of Rmdax tasing, Bloody Gaya Fulfilled, and Quasi Putrefaction. I really recamend this album simply to anyone that likes metal. You wont be disappointed.

Awesome
I love chthonic. I found their newer stuff first and went back and discovered this gem. I love the dark symphonic sound of this album. Doris has a lot of backup vocals on this one, which really ties the songs together nicely. I would recommend checking this out even though it sounds different from the newer stuff, if that is how you discovered chthonic as I had.

Nice Effort, But......
Chthonic are a symphonic/black/death metal band from China (which is impressive enough in and of itself), and have been in the limelight as of late, winning the asian equivalent of a Grammy, and touring with the huge Ozzfest tour in the 'states. They play a fairly original brand of metal incorporating traditional Chinese instrumentation, symphonic elements and female vocals. Their latest release is a concept album of sorts concerning an obscure Chinese cult, weird mysticism and (of course) suicide and violence, and is based on historical events. That having been said, this album simply doesn't seem to evoke much of anything, with a sterile production which buries the guitar in the over-layered mix (a cardinal sin in metal, if ever there was one), occasionally annoying instrumentation and effects, and simply a general lack of anything that really makes you pay attention. Ecspecially when compared to some other recent metal releases this year, this one just doesn't stand out much, which is surprising considering the band's story (simply being a metal band in communist China itself must have been very difficult, to say the least)and the relatively original cultural "angle" on the precedings.....it should be pointed out, however, that the artowrk and packaging of the release are exceptionally well done, and the disc does have additional multimedia content, although the bonus tracks are inexplicably stacked right at the beginning of the disc, requiring an annoying "page" past five tracks until you can actually listen to the album if you are in your car, for example. Oh well, maybe next time.
