Yamaha Raider Forward Control Extension Kit

Fit is perfect. Finish is much better than expected.This took 20 minutes to install.While the 3 inch extensions work for me, I offer a suggestion to the manufacturer that they slot the three holes that mount to the frame to allow for some adjustment.

Considering that a set of billet forward controls typically costs between $600-1,000, a lot of people will have to settle for a low priced alternative like this kit. It fits correctly and is simple to install, but the quality of workmanship leaves something to be desired. The replacement shift rod and 3" brake rod extension are okay - nothing fancy, just plain stainless steel, but at least they're machined to a decent finish. I can't say the same about the two mounting plates. They arrived coated with thick, gloppy high-gloss black paint which had to be removed, as there are no gloss black parts on my Raider S. Stripping the paint off revealed raw unfinished steel with no surface refinement at all. In fact one of the plates was badly pitted, probably due to weather exposure prior to cutting. Three hours of stripping, scraping, disc grinding and polishing later, the plates were finally smooth enough to apply a proper matte black powder coat finish to match the bike's frame. I realize they don't show much when installed, but they looked downright terrible out of the box and there's no way I was going to put them on my bike in that condition. Once I got them on, I was pleased with the difference - noticeably more comfortable for my long legs (I'm 6'5" tall). It took a lot of work to get them looking decent, but at least I didn't have to spend $1,000.Update: The bolts supplied with this kit rusted very quickly after only a few short rides. I took them out and replaced them with stainless steel bolts.

Works awesome, but does not come with any instructions at all. This would have taken 15 minutes with instructions. But took me about an hour.
