Can't wait to go!
This is the first Kindle book that I have purchased and I am trying to navigate my way through like I used to with the paperback version of Lonely Planet. The more I read, the easier it gets to use a Kindle guide. The only negative seems to be the maps. I haven't figured out how to immediately look up a place on a map when I am reading about it. I usually peruse the entire book first and zoom in on the locations that I want to concentrate on then decide what I want to see in those areas. So I tend to go back and forth between the maps and the information about a place quite often. Also, the maps are not clear when I zoom in on my iPad. I believe that I can download maps and print them out from the internet but I don't have internet at home or a printer available so it makes it more difficult. As for the content of the book...I am excited about getting to Cambodia because Lonely Planet does a great job of enticing you to want to visit an exotic land. Even better is that LP gives accurate information about that exotic land so that your visit goes smoothly!

Invaluable
When we went to Cambodia for the first time two years ago I had the 2010 edition, it was so useful I ordered the latest for the planning of our next month long 2013 trip. They are a great asset in that they give maps, places to eat, sleep and discover, that are not too detailed but detailed enough to get you to where you want to go and the predictable layout makes them easy to use, especially when you are making your own way and often off the well beaten tourist track, (this is where the tips and advice also come in handy). They have made it easier for me to research further into places we want to go by giving me starting points so we can be confident we are making the most of the time we have and make the choices that are appropriate to what we want to see and do and spend. A good investment.Travellers' tip, copy the maps, mark your places, and laminate - I do this for every town / city area we went to and it makes getting around so easy.

Don't love the new format, but a good guide for sure
First of all, let me just say that I much prefer to have all of the "about this country" stuff in the front of the book. History is important!I would also prefer to have the maps next to each other-- why is North Phnom Penh separated from South Phnom Penh by several pages? It is obnoxious for navigation.Otherwise, this is a great guidebook-- we had few complaints. It sure is nice to travel with a guidebook that came out the same month as your trip. Restaurant recommendations were generally excellent, and logistical information is good. Hated our PP accommodation, however, which was a top pick in the guidebook (Number 9 Guesthouse), though our other accommodations in the country were excellent (and also top pics).I recommend this book (though encourage you to double-check tripadvisor and wikitravel when making your plans).

First trip to Cambodia
Basically good reliable info on places to stay as well as bars and restaurants, but lacking in reliability of Transportation info.Author says how great the roads are between the major cities. They are some of the worst roads I have ever seen in my life (and I have traveled overland through many countries in Africa). Add at least one hour to any travel time listed in the book. Also, airfares quoted in the book for travel within the country are much lower than what was available and I was there at the end of low season.

Difficult to use on a Kindle
When I bought the Kindle version of the Lonely Planet Guide to Cambodia I hoped that I would be able save weight and bulk by leaving my printed version behind. In practice the Kindle is no substitute for the paper version. Although the texts are identical the Kindle guide is slow and cumbersome to navigate and you cannot keep switching from one page to another. The maps are particularly difficult to use. They are hard to read at a low magnification but if you zoom in you can only distinguish one small area at a time. Also the keys for the numbers on the map are on a another page.I use Lonely Planet Guides a lot and look forward to the day when several books can be carried on a Kindle or a tablet. The Kindle version at least has a long way to go before it will take the place of the book.

A must for going there!
My husband almost has it all memorized. It is extremely helpful. We will be going to Cambodia adventure for our first time very soon. Traveling is expensive so we many never go there again. That means we want to see and do so much while we are there that I just cannot understand why anyone would ever travel anywhere without a guide, like the Lonely Planet guides, for where they are going....unless you are on a cruse..you aren't going anywhere then. or unless you are on a tight tour..no need for anything then either.

good as always
The book is up to the ex[ected level of Lonely Plant books, however all that I needed was a section about visit to SiemReap which was included in the Vietnam book and I missed when reviewing it on the web.

Considerably Improved
I have been buying Lonely Planet books for some time now and have found them useful around the world. I bought this for an intended trip to Cambodia, put back now. The first thing to note is that the format has changed. Lots more maps, some additional sections which I will go through later and the removal of glossy colour plates. This last change makes it feel more like a Rough Guide than a Lonely Planet one at times. The guide is split as normal into geographical sections with a healthily large one on Angkor Wat. The front section is a real improvement on the normal introductory blurb. It contains a region by region guide over two pages, several suggested itineraries a month by month guide to events and suggested activities. At the back is the guide to the country and this includes a very useful guide to border crossings.Overall its a solid guide, the information looks good and there seems to be more detail here than I have found with some other LP guides. I am looking forward to putting it to the test and then I might just update this review and award that final star.

Could be much better
I have bought many Lonely Planet print books and several of their ebooks. I am quite a fan of their print books many of which I have enjoyed reading even without any real prospect of visiting the country in question in the near future. Their ebooks on the other hand, have all been highly disappointing. Their city guides are almost useless. Their country guides, containing as they do most of the same text as the books, are rather better, but navigating around the book is awkward and confusing, way worse than using the print book (of which I have an older edition of this guide). Maps are another weak point, too small when unexpanded, blurry when enlarged, and just difficult to locate anything on.Lonely Planet has failed to make technology work for them. The day has not yet arrived when you could leave the heavy lonely planet print book at home and take with you a light weight kindle or iPad mini instead.I would give 4 stars for the text in this ebook, and 2 stars for the format.

Cambodia Guide
I have a number of these guides and over the years they have improved. The "New Look" guide has improved maps and illustrations. A number of additions such as suggested itineraries and key information are good.
